Congrats buddy.. enjoy the ride. Even I am planning to go for the 1.6 -- even though my inclination is to go for the used Palio GTX or the S10 model.

Nothing compares to the 1.6

But then why do they not suggest the oil change before 2nd service (7500) kms. Wouldn't the scrapings/shavings damage the engine?

I understand that TBHP recommends getting engine oil changed at the first service itself, but I am still confused why Fiat does not recommend it. Is it just to lower the cost of ownership of the vehicle by introducing extended service intervals or it is pertaining to some technical reasons that I am not aware of?
The page where i lifted the details of the run-in period only deals with the 'maximizing fuel efficiency' part, that could be the reason why you don't see the oil change bit.

This is somewhat correct I feel. I can refer you to a post in Palio Users Group, posted by an auto enthusiast, there he says that it took about 8-9K kms for him to properly run-in the engine of his GTX. And it is not only the engine which needs running in...

Sorry to be OT but just wanted to understand how do you know that the running in is complete.

The gearbox, transmission, tires all need a bit of running in - that's what I think.

hey manas buddy, u must have been knowing the on road prices in balgalore are sky high as compared to gurgaon.....even if you compare on-road price of delhi and gurgaon you will find gurgaon on cheaper side......

in my case the dealer i approached was dhingra motors and under-mentioned is the bifercation:
1: on road price - 4,31,944
2: insurance - 13529
3: reg - 8500
4: total on road price - 4,53,973
then comes discount
1: finance discount - 13000
2: dealers discount - 13000
3: total discount - 26000

i paid - 4,27,973
plus extended warranty - 4800
total amount i paid - 4,32,773
which is why i was saying that on road price was around 4.3lacs.

so as i have always mentioned to bargain as much as cash discount as u can...but sorry manas i don't know anything about bangalore..

all the best...

hey piyush,

congrats on the new palio dude... this is one car that will keep you happy in direct proportion to how happy you keep her!!!

i own a palio as well and when we were buying the car in 02, it was a very tight toss up between the s10 and the 1.6 - the only problem was that the 1.6 was not in stock in the colour i wanted (fern green) and the s10 meant waiting for 21 days - i had to buy A car in 48 hours (depreciation etc!!!)

so, the 1.2 was bought and i have enjoyed every minute of it. the 1.6 is a gorgeous animal while the 1.2 gives you a tate of whats to come!!!

enjoy her and keep her happy and safe dude..

cheers.
