| After a lot of deliberation and thinking, I purchased a Heather Mist color Honda City Vtec Plus (Vtec with ABS, Air Bags and Leather upholstery I considered Fiesta Sxi and SX4 Zxi initially. But, choose City Vtec based on the feedback given by online & media friends (Team BHP, Car magazines etc For sure, it is costly. It costed good 10lakhs on road. Roughly, 2 lakhs more than Fiesta or SX4. But, I felt the money is worth as it gets me good peppy engine, better mileage (more than Fiesta and SX4), excellent interiors and very good resale. More over, it was a corporate lease, so did not feel the pinch I did not consider the Gxi as I will be the one driving my car and I wanted something that’s motivating and fun to drive. I also did not consider base Vtec as it is just 60 thousands cheaper and won’t come with air bags or ABS Coming to the car, I am more than impressed with it. I owned and used a Santro for 4 years. Though Santro is a very good car by any standards, this car is miles ahead in terms of power, comfort, space etc I have driven it for about 400kms now. Car drives very well- very smooth, like butter. So is the gear shift. Engine has lot of juice. Controls are all light and very pleasing to use. The ride is soft and makes you feel comfortable. Seats are big and comfortable. The interiors are classy and they feel good to be in. This is where I was not happy with both SX4 and Fiesta in particular initially. I have not gone on long drive yet. So, can not comment on that part. ]I read in some other articles that the breaking is an issue. But, I don’t feel so. The breaking is in fact very good and way better than my earlier Santro. Not to forget that this one comes with ABS.[/ Right now I am getting around 10kmpl mileage. But, I am expecting it to increase after the first service and sun film installation.[/ Only crib I have is about the user friendliness of audio system. The Alpine system has a weird UI and one has to read the complete manual to get some basic features going Tires appear to be skinny, but I was told any upgrade will void the warranty. So, decided to stay with stock ones Waiting to go for a long drive some time soon and will update you guys more at that time ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Good choice Arjun. Yes, you can never wrong with a Honda (or a Toyota). Hope you get many miles of happy motoring! ![]() Quote:
I guess you meant the A/c usage will come down due to this and hence the mileage increase. Quote:

| BHPian | firstly congrats mallikarjun on ur new car.... its threads like these reaffirm the brand value of HONDA in India... umm ..Rs10 lakhs for a CITY VTEC !! ( when cars a segment above are cheaper and even with diesel engines.. ) .. i did see a few CITYs with this type of spoiler...was wondering whether its an after market one - so this is standard with the top end VTEC is it ?? maybe HONDA could have considered giving better tires with the VTEC alteast .. im not sure how much difference SUN FILM would make to your mileage ..any improvement due to a/c usage would be nullified by the additional weight of sun film ur carrying !! |

| Great car Mallikarjun. Enjoy a long trouble free ownership as is typical with Honda. Warranty void due to a tyre change? WTH???? Honda is taking things too far ..

| BHPian | Definitely upgrade the tyres especially if you like to drive yourself and could get upto a bit of speed! Voiding of warranty will be applicable only if you fit spacers or upsize a huge amount. Alternatively, research Michelin India's website and fit the same sized PP2s; this should make a world of difference. Honda dealers (in particular) are known for their know-it-all attitude.

| BHPian | First off, congrats!!! If that's the way you are going to describe it, things surely aren't looking good for the SX4. But you do agree that Fiesta and SX4 are at par with the City on other features described by you? Last edited by kkdelhi : 19th April 2008 at 23:35. |

| Congratulations to M-Arjun on your upgrade from Hyundai Santro to the City Tops. 1) Any reason why you did not consider the Verna Diesel? 2)`How is the torque curve in this engine? Is it peaking at mid-level or needs to be grilled o the top? lemme know..cheers
