Happy Happy Happy!!! . I can say that with a big smile. And the thing which makes an average indian driver smile is the Fuel Efficiency. This is my latest one. I drove steadily at 80kmph speed . Changed gears between 1500-2000rpm.
Total Mileage : 230 kms
Fuel Consumed : 10.6 litres
Fuel Efficiency : 21.69 kmpl

all gears ?? Thats difficult . I was eyeing on the tacho only . Made sure the needle didnt cross 2000 rpm. I wasnt test driving that car . I was on a trip to palani temple with 2 other friends on board . Just make sure you change the gears on or below 2000 rpm. And this was with 50% AC ON.

I tell you dude. It was a pleasant drive and the best thing here is , I didnt lose much of time. I used to drive at 90, 110 kmph . May be it was a matter of 10 mins. But certainly has saved me some cost.

I asked you because - say i am doing 60KMPH in 3rd gear and if i change to 4th at 60, i can hear a strange sound in cabin, something like gurrrrrr.
The same sound enterts the cabin when i change gear from 4 to 5 at 80KMPH.
I can feel that the sound is because of changing the gears at low rpm.

i get that sound only when i shift to 60 at 5th gear . At 80 kmph in 5th gear , the car is smooth .Check it again dude.

I rechecked and the sound is coming when i am shifting to 5th gear at 75 KMPH.
I am shifting to 4th when car doing 60+ and to 5th at 80+.
I am getting the car checked tomorrow.
Probably this scenario is leading to lower average (around 13KMPL) driving in lesser traffic.

I have heard as similar sound sometimes when I shift into reverse. And the car doesn't move.

Not that sound vabs , if you dont shift to reverse gear properly , you get that sound. The sound we are talking about comes when you drive at low speeds at higher gear . Try driving 50kmph in 5th gear.

5th gear at 50kmph ?

Why in the world would you do that ??

I am always changing to 5th gear only after 60-65kmph.
5th gear is definatley not meant for 50kmph.

cheers

Anju , i was telling him about the sound. I am asking to drive at that speed to hear the sound which we were discussing about. Read the previous posts , it will make you understand better.
