I also have one submission about a "friend"s Scorpio 2.6 SLX - moved through three sets of rear left tyres before dealer admitted that there was an issue with the rear axle which was eventually replaced under warranty.

All this after he yelled blue murder & threatened to sue them. Mind you, this is the biggest dealer in Delhi. But this was quite a while ago & he's since moved on to his second SLX.

But we're not discussing friends or relatives here, right?

If the former, hope there were no injuries to anyone! That's a crowded place and this kind of mishap can have bad consequences!

And yes, there are enough cases of M&M also goofing up in the service department.

Thanks for that Sumit! Had somehow missed this thread.

In this context, slightly OT, but relevant perhaps: (From another thread)

Never leave your car with them. Get everything done in your presence and drive away.
And anyway, I'm an engineer myself. I listen to machinery. I believe machinery TALKS to you!
Listen, and it will never let you down.
Got by with this (corny?) philosophy so far! There not very much more to go; I'm 56.
Somewhere, in all of this, God also has a role! At least I thank him regularly, so He better be doing something!

steer dadu sumit anup tanveer thanks for your inputs on safari scorpio. I have 2 months more to make my purchase decision and will keep a close watch on this and all safari scorpio related threads.

PS Steer I was checking some old auto mags AutoIndia and the Safari fuel filter was quoted at Rs 188!!!! anyways the info put up by your ownership of the 3.0, Suman Dadus 2.2 is very informative.

I would appreciate if some cost of frequent spares required (at each service interval) can be put up on a separate thread.

LOL
JrGodzilla, I am also in the same situation.
Heart Safari, head scorpio.
So buddy, I will listen to heart(because Scorpio 4x4 is not likely before sept, too long a wait), and you listen to head.
If you are also in NCR, every few months we will exchange our trucks

Where did you hear this Tanveer? The other day you mentioned they will come out with the 4x4 in July!

So you've made up your mind on the 4x4 EX?

The mind is made after you book the vehicle, before that you always flop flop.
The Scorpio 4x4 may be out by end july, but the waiting times are huge.
I think anup had to wait for 2 months for 4x4 2.6, anup please clarify
Moreover there is a price issue, and pricing is not clear(can't be before launch).

So in the end it boils down to how long can we wait. If we have to have a new car by July end, then the only choice is EX 4x4.

took me lots and i mean lots of time to read through the entire 9 pages and 132 posts.
and i must admit that it was worth every single moment of it.
Its a classic case of heart vs Mind.
Even i would go where my heart takes me.
All the best for your new buy TSK

Cheers

Yes, that is what I was told at the time of booking, but I got it in well under 2 months.

TSK, what are your plans for your Indica; Is Safari going to be your only ( reliable ) vehicle in the future? I am sure you would agree that in NCR - Safari is not the vehicle that one would like to take at each and every corner & hence there would be a requirement for an additional vehicle.
