Cool Tested & Ripped:Ford Fiesta 1.6S Duratec...surely FIDA!!!(with alot of detailed pics)

Hi guys, last week i saw the new adv. of the new ford fiesta with the sporty looks,i called up Ford to enquire about the car,and if they can arrange for a TD,they said they will confirm and call me up in sometime. After approximately 30mins i received their call on when do I want the car for TD they can arrange it,I opted for Saturday as my dad would also get a chance to see the car, finally on friday i again got a call for confirming my TD and it was positive, hmmm for sure the Ford's have started concerning about their customers/enquiry's now.

So Saturday after a loooooong wait finally at 12.20pm the car arrives, its a Morello colour 1.6S Duratec,it was fully loaded, with skirts on all four sides, the Headlights were a little changed from the previous versions, seems to have inspired from the Civic Headlamps.

6 x 9" coax. in the rear, yea yea they produce good BASS..!!!
I feel the ICE in this car is better sounding than any of its competitor.

This car has a 1.6L Duratec 4 Cyl. In-Line, 16-V DOHC engine at 101BHP,on enquiring about the FE i was told it shells out 9.5-11kmpl in city and 14.5-16kmpl on highways. The gear shifting of the car is very smooth and short shifting, overall accleration and pickup is very quick. The car is very stable on the road, comfortable and smooth to drive without any hassel. This car has ABS and Airbags.

Ample of luggage space

After going thru each and every details of my TD experience i feel this car is worth buying and total VFM,I am personally looking forward for another TD of this car and replace my 2001 Esteem sooner. My overall exerience was awesome, the top speed i could touch was 130kmph in the city on our western highway,i am sure the car has potential to do lots more, overall it was a great experience in reviewing a good car.Hope you all like the efforts put together in making a great TD experience.

Cheers

I was speaking with one of my client the other day and we were discussing cars... He owns a Fiesta 1.6 Diesel. He said that whenever we go on long drives with family in this car my children become very uncomfortable and when we go out in a Santro my kids are absolutely comfortable. I understand that sitting postures do make a difference. All i wanted to know was that is rear seat too upright or what??

Nice report. My quick thoughts

- Like the alloys and the wheels
- The ICE looks good too.
- Seats would have looked awesome with some leather, but the rear bench on the previous version was pretty bad compared to other similar cars.
- Do not like the instrument panel. Does not go with the looks of car. Looks primitive.
-Sporty pedals look great.
- I am sure its a belter to drive.
- A/S/S is costly.

Is there anything new in this car ? I mean in the engine/suspension/braking part.

I would take the 11kmpl in city with a pinch of salt

Great TD report and pics, AK. When are you buying it?

esteem_lover, my city mileage hovers between 10.8 to 12.

The_Warrior, I have travelled long distance in the rear seat, and it is quite comfy.

Congrats on your sporty ride and definitely the skirts and the rear spoiler make the car look sporty on the lines of cedia. Have fun and drive safe.

Lovely detailed pictures of a beautiful car. But thats all there is to it on this thread. Guys, when you say tested and ripped, its a drive report that we are expecting. We all know what the Fiesta looks like, just that there have been cosmetic changes to it now. But we need to know if the changes in its suspension set up have made a difference to the way it feels. So please, henceforth, please " drive " the thing before claiming that its " tested and ripped !".

I do think the rear seat comfort in the 1.6 S would be less as compared to the 1.6 SXi :
a) No rear center armrest b) No adjustable head rest c) The height of the rear seat itself appears shorter and may not provide full support to the neck.

I don't see it any different than the existing ikon. So is it only with some new engine name or? I feel the looks of earlier ikon is much better.

@katalysm76:
Nice review. The pictures are good. I personally never liked this new grille, and feel that the earlier was better. I hope that changing of shape of headlights hasn't affected the performance of lights.

The alloys are now better looking, but I dont know why, Fiesta has always looked undertyred to me.
