Jayant, so you are changing both struts with the lower arms? how about the rare struts?

Rear struts do not have a problem. According to mechanic's assessment, they can run another 7-8k kms and I sure can save some bucks by postponing them.

It sure is a coincidence. The odo now reads 85,8XX kms.

Jayanth - rear struts donot require change unless its almost toast - rear load is less most of the time (under normal wear and tear)

I picked up my car in March 2008 when the odo read 43,4** Kms and now as on date it reads 54,8**kms. Its is my daily ride - but the average distance covered per day is at most 10kms

Lohith - it is a very good idea to share price figures with Jayanth since both you guys are changing suspension parts at the same time.

take care.

Yes the rear struts hold up longer, i presume the damage to you pocket should be around 14k? including both the lower arms??

Thats what the mech told me but also insisted on a check after 8k kms.

Buddy - You've got to take it to the highway

186Kms and 53kms respectively. Oh! also the small highway drives to a Highway Dhaba on NH6. but then thats about it.

Surya i agree, also if your usage is mostly city then the suspension related issues are much lesser compared to the hiway usage. in my case where the car as seen mostly hiway with lots of bad roads added with some hi-speed driving, i did expect the suspensions to give up. however considering the car had run some good amount of kms am pretty impressed with the quality....

but as far as i can see from your query it seems to be normal to me...
No. I get the check injector light after some time. I make sure I start the car only after this light goes off. When running in cold conditions (early morning or late evening) the light came on (2 or 3 times so far). The temperature needle would be stuck at the min mark.
Anyways, took the car to Raj Motors in bellandur (near to my home + TASS didn't have any slots this week + I had to travel this weekend). They thought it could be because of bad spark plugs. Mine were bad (as they said - the distance between the electrodes were quite far compared to new ones) and the light could come one to say the sparks were not strong enough. Believable? I will check and monitor with the new spark plugs and take it back in case the light comes on again like before.
Looks like lower arm assembly replacement season Looks like my right side is 'weak' and might need replacement. As of now, no need to change.

Lohith, I forgot to ask you the individual cost of each lower arm? And what make?

I just got the job done today and its looking expensive :-(

@Surya - The excel you have attached are for Stile models. Is there a similar table for the pre-Stile models?

Default Short drive and car feels good...

Driving around mangalore means a good mix of winding roads and the some straights and not to forget bad roads, i guess whichever way you head you will come across a good % pf stretch which will be bad. i really pity those low gc cars!

Adventure wont show any stress while while climbing up and this time the engine seemed to be very refined. at idling i felt the car is more relaxed but i guess i need to get the alignment done.

Default Temp Check

Question

Am putting down the representation of the needle position of the temp gauge.

1. when on highway or free road.
2. In city condition and slow moving traffic(w/o AC)
3. Very slow moving traffic, 1/2 gears and with AC (W AC)

Now what you guys think?

I do get case 3 occassionaly and the only solution I have used is - clean the radiator with water spray

Your problem could be as simple as mine. Try this and let us know.

Case 1 and 2 are normal.

1 = OK
2 = OK
3 = Looks Ok, if restarting in stop-go traffic - shouldn't happen when idle. Fan should switch on when needle reaches half mark. Abnormal if with AC

Did you check the position at which fan switches on when idling?

+ 1 to JVH - Better clean with compressed air first and then pressure wash. I haven't used water in the engine bay since last 5000kms - only used compressed air to clean the engine bay / radiator.
