strange. When i went with a friend to drop off his spark for a service, they were offering the coating as an option

Petes box + Vista Quadrajet - looks like a STUNNING combo, if things integrate properly.

pete has agreed because the engine is a FIAT one and the box is available for that. He has said that the box would work on Vista as well.

Tata 1.4 DICOR can easily do 90BHP, with just ECU software changes, but tata detunes it because the gearbox won't be able to handle the torque.
So unless you are sure that the Vista Gearbox is capable of the additional torque, I would advise against the mod

Tata may have detuned the 1.4 Dicor engine due to the old Indica's gearbox, but the Vista borrows Fiat's C15B gearbox for the Vista. So, it should not be a problem as such.

Do you have access to any long term report substantiating the above claim?
Remember, no modder/tuner etc., will say that the mod is harmful for the engine.
Fiat engine with a VGT is capable of 90BHP. Infact there are versions out in the market(Bravo I think, not too sure) which sport the 1.3L 90BHP multijet engine.
If they have the same gearbox, well and good, otherwise I would not recommend it, esp if the mod means very high low end torque.

Hi CtrlAltDel,

> ya...on the indica, i got it done during the first service.
> it has a warranty i think - got to ask the dealership abt it.

Ok. So it does have a warranty.

You had that applied way back in 2003. I assume there were no further coatings. From another message I understand you paid 2000 for the same. I am sure the 2000 is for peace of mind.

If the dealer can give you a warranty with the anti rust coating (?5 years as Condor has mentioned) for Rs 2000, don't you think it would be peanuts for the manufacturer in his huge scale to have it as part of the car when it leaves the factory?

Moreover, your underbody must have had it s share of wear and tear with dust, stones and whatever these years and you expect the antirust coating to be intact all these years protecting your underbody!

That must be a real good product!

I am in the state of Kerala where it has its share of monsoons and the beach in my town is 2.5kms to the west of where my vehicles are parked with just a roof on them and the sides are uncovered.

My 1996 Sumo is with a friend even today and though it had body rust problems, it is doing well in the underbody area.

I had a Safari between 1999 and 2004. It left me without any rust problems.

My Indica (2001 to 2004) did not have rust problems.

I don't expect my Marina to have rust problems either.

Instead of making some chemical company and your dealer richer, you would do good to donate that 2000 to somebody needy or for some good cause.

Purely my opinion.

Hi CtrlAltDel,

> equipping the car with a better art-leater upholstry

That's a good enough cause!

I am happy!

Fit and Finish on MJD...When I went for Vista TD, I saw couple of MJDs parked in showroom, one of those had irregular width rubber beading around windshield glass...it was sort of popping out outwards in couple of places.

Maybe Tata dealer handpicked that car for display, but still I will not expect any Fiat car to be like that. I do not think any mfrr is too keen on maintaining superb build quality...including Fiat...atleast for small cars.

and...gulp...resale value compared to Vista???? i only concede fit and finish to MJD.[/quote]
