If there is sufficient support, I'll ask to have this moved to that thread

Tata Indica Vista may get new variant soon (Zigwheels.com)

Tata Indica Vista may get new variant soon?- News- Zigwheels

After a play on words defining three of the five elements for the Indica Vista's available variants, Tata Motors could be on the verge of launching a fourth variant soon. Following the Aqua, Terra and Aura could now be the newest baby off the Tata block - the Ignis. ZigWheels reader Ajay Vaidya spotted what could very well be the first of the Ignis variants in Mumbai.

The Indica Vista has been doing good numbers since its launch, though a majority of the sales figures have been courtesy the brilliant 1.3 litre Quadrajet engined variants. A huge reason for this was the rather underpowered (for a car of its size) 1.2 litre SAFIRE engine that was the only petrol option available up until now. Once the Ignis hits Indian roads, customers will then have the option of an Indica Vista with the 95 PS 1.4 litre SAFIRE engine as well that also does duty in Fiat's Punto hatchback.

Along with the higher capacity engine, expect a whole lot of gadgets and goodies as well - but sadly alloy wheels don't seem to be a part of standard equipment as can be seen from the above photograph that Vaidya managed to click among others. When and whether the Ignis will be introduced in the Indian market is still a big question mark though, but all we can hope is that it doesn't get relegated 'for export purposes only'! More pictures and information on what's new on the Tata Indica Vista Ignis soon only on Buy New Cars, Selling a Car, Auto Car Reviews, Car News, Zigwheels. Check back in a while to find out more...

Somebody upload the image please.

ACI reported sometime back that Tata wanted to do a hot hatch with the Vista - Ignis is for sure a pointer in the right direction, but I hope the "hot" would mean really hot.

I would assume Ignis would also stand for a spark ignited engine in which case the options can be :

1.4l 100 PS(BHP?) from the XL
1.4 85 PS(BHP) reworked from the XL's engine (to debut in the Indigo Vista base variants)
1.4 77 BHP (8 valver from FIAT) - hope not
1.4 85 PS (the original Indigo engine) - lets not go in that direction
1.4 T-Jet 120 PS (now I am dreaming)

1.3 M-Jet VGT 86 PS ??

Right.
That will be like eating into Punto sales.

However i thought this might be the one with Abs and airbags.

@Indivic- 1.3 M-Jet VGT 86 PS (dreaming in day time)

the vista is a rather portly hatch. the same engine which makes the swift D a hot hatch is no great shakes in the vista. To make it 'hot' properly would need a significantly more powerful engine - suicide in the petrol segment, and tata doesnt have any good answers in the diesel range.

OT : Then imagine how much the Indigo Vista would weigh on the scales, I think Tata will have to do some kind of tummy reduction on the Vista platform if they are serious about European markets especially because of the various tax bands related to CO2 emissions.

i dont think the europeans are as sensitive to bigger capacity engines as we are.

We're the ones who want 1.2 litre engines and 12+ kmpl FE in C+ and D segment cars

TML had been harping about its next genereation of E-IV compliant engines being ready for use. Maybe the IGNIS will be the first to use an inhouse TML engine that is E-IV compliant
