Hearty congratulations!

Don't look at Shahnawaz's and Vikram's Gypsys - you will lose valuable boot space
Please join the Bangalore OTR gang - I would love to see your new Gypsy. A new Gypsy in 10 days - this is giving me ideas.

You are risking the brake of your vehicle. Also checkout for speedo and Odo difference....
@Sha: Don't lose too much sleep over this. While all this is ok in theory, I have seen Gypsy's with 235/255 tyres working perfectly well. No issues on braking etc -- both on/off the road.

Yes, you will have speedo/odo difference but that doesn't matter much in OTR's :-)

Enjoy your Gypsy man..

Cheers,

Theories are good to read but in reality practical knowledge will teach us, I have fair good idea about tyres. I have seen with 235 tyres personally so no problems.

@sha: Congrats on your buy ! Not everyone goes for a new Gypsy in today's world. As someone had asked earlier, what were the colour options offered to you ? Or did you prefer white even before booking ?

It would be great if you can share the details of its cost.

Hey congrats for the new Gypsy.. When i enquired in RNS motors about availability of a new GYPSY i was told that it is only sold to ARMY and government services. They were not ready to discuss any further about it. I was appalled by the reasons.. Is it possible for any one to buy a new Gypsy from show rooms now?

That has always been the case. ANYONE can buy a gypsy. It's just the dealers are NOT interested in selling it -- for whatever reasons (less margin, don't know much about it etc etc.. or whatever) and hence they give stupid excuses of it being available only to army/govt folks etc.

I know of at least 2-3 people who have bought new gypsy from showroom in last 1-2 years.

PS: However, it is really sad that Maruti & the most dealers also don;t do ANYTHING to promote the Gypsy.

Cheers,

color option where white, brick red,icy blue and silver. my first choice was military green, on the day of booking they told one green is in stock but later they said No. white was my second option so i choosed that colour.
it costed me 5.92 lac on road price.

You are right khan bhai dealers have no respect to gypsy and they do not promote it, i know from the dealer what margin they are getting its 5-8% of ex show room price.

wow. bro hats off to you.

you must be one serious offroader.

my only experience with maruti gypsy is when i went to my uncles house.(DELHI) he is general (col, brigadier don't know) whatever. they have these gypsy of military spec.

my uncle had this papaji for a driver. military dude well built. very calm talked less. but drove like crazy. this thing zooms on new delhi roads. i dont know the areas but the roads were smooth and empty. papaji hit the pedal down the floor. and my heart was pounding. lolz. and in an open gypsy you really feel the speed. lolz that was some experience. i loved it.

hope you are enjoying it too.

Arbind,

Best way to tackle this issue is buy the gypsy and park in front of the parents. Slowly, the resistance vanishes. My experience has been the same. I own the gypsy for over 8 years now.
