Finally got time to be here .

We have taken delivery of our Artic Silver coloured Vista Aqua TDi on December 18. The car is meant for my wife’s use. We sold our brand new Estilo to buy this, as a bigger and diesel hatch for frequent highway runs is needed by her.

Since I was busy traveling and my better half is also away till first week of Jan, the car has merely run 200 kms till now. We are registering it in first few days of Jan 09.

For us, the car is great improvement over Estilo (the car it replaces in our garage) in terms of space, comfort and most important highway worthiness (Not saying Estilo is not capable of highway, we have done over 1 lac kms in Wagon R, mostly on highways).

The car is costing us 4.25 Lacs on road, purchased in Pune but registration in my home town, Sangli. I have transferred my Sony HU from outgoing Estilo to this car, mated with Blaupunkt speakers all around. Filming is Huper Optik with 5 years warranty card. I have filled the OE 175/65 R14 Goodyear GT3 tubeless tyres with nitrogen, having good experience of same treatment in my XL.

Couple of features I liked for given money is tilt adjust steering wheel (the broacher is wrong in saying it’s available only in Saffire and Qudrajet), Auto locking of doors on speed reaching 20 kmph. The glove box is huge and there is a tray below front passenger seat which takes care of out of sight small storage needs. The inner ends of wiper blades are overlapping each other (see the pic), as a result there is absolutely no gap in both blades' wiping area (generally there is gap at bottom of windshield which narrows and disappears moving up). Overall, Tata has done many small but thoughtful things. Wise branding also, e.g. Chrome logo on keys.

For a TDi, noise level inside cabin is less as compared to Indigo /Indigo CS TDi (my cousins own them, so instant comparison was done). I felt the suspensions better than our Indigo XL. While the wheels were removed for balancing after nitro feeling, I found something different added to front suspension set up. I am novice in this area. I have taken a phone cam pic which is attached here. It would be great if anybody can through some light on this. The rear seat is proper three seater for average size persons and long drive with three seating at the back won’t be a problem.

The drivability is not comparable with my Dicor, but that is expected. Turbo boost is noticeable after 2000 RPM. A/C is great. Gearshift is better than any Tata car I have driven. Absence of vibration on gear shifter stick is noticeable, result of cable shift.

Not attaching general all round pictures, as by this time, we have 2-3 Vistas with all the pictures on the forum.

Congrats Bouncer, she looks good in that colour. Seems the Tata's have upped the game with the Vista with improvements in both the Tdi engine and the gearbox. At 4.25L OTR this seems to be the most VFM ride on the Indian market.

Did you say you filled the tubeless tyres with 'NITROGEN'!? Why? Is that possible?

It most certainly is!

Mats Fuel Park and Bimal Autos (both Whitefield) in Bangalore offered me 20 rupees per tire. No refills needed for 4-6 months. Main advantage apparently is there is no loss of pressure in spite of prolonged use since nitrogen has constant pressure unlike air which has variable pressure.

Anyone here have experience with nitrogen?

Hi Bouncer,

Congrats on your purchase of the Vista TDi.
I am also a Vista TDi owner.
I think we are the only 2 Vista TDi owners on this forum so far.

Cheers,
Nitin
