There are three sweet spots with MT ANHC

in 3rd gear at 35-45KMPH
in 4th gear at 70-90 KMPH @ 1500-2200 RPM
in 5th gear at 110-120KMPH @ ~ 3000-3200 RPM.

at these sweet spots, the indicator shows maximum FE
i try to drive in those bands always.

Can you try to do this experiment and findout the best possible band for you.

Ya 100-120 gives ones of the best FE in ANHC. I don't think any other car gives such a sweet FE at that speed. I got around 18 in my ANHC-AT when i maintained between 100-120 in chennai road.

Bingo Raghu and Shamanth,
I once got a FE of 21 (lol) on my trip from Bangalore-Shimoga. I was driving between 80-100.
21KMPL was ofcourse the reading from meter. Negate an absolute 1.2. I was really surprised.

My ANHC has almost done 28 K now.
In the last paid service, I had complained about outside smell entering the cabin and low FE.
They are supposed to have fixed the problem of smell, but the problem still persists.

On the issue of low FE, the SA had told me that he had found the air filter to be very clogged and he had cleaned it and put it back. There is no change in FE which is around 7 kmpl in the crowded city and 13 kmpl on highways.

I also feel that after upgrading to 195/60 R15, the force to align to center is little too much and there is too much resistance in the steering to move off the straight ahead position. This was very obvious after a drive to ooty (on those twisty roads). I am beginning to think that 185/60/ R15 may be the right upgrade but you loose GC further.

Can i know where in Chennai you maintain a speed of 100-120? It has been ages for me who is driving a car for past 20 years to maintain a speed above 100 in chennai due to its heavy traffic and narrow roads.

In Chennai atleast you have broad roads, In Bangalore the roads are narrow with traffic piling up like crazy. The humps and pot holes come as freebees.

Well folks, you have not seen the moonscape that Kanpur roads are. Thanks for the JNNURM all major roads are dug up with 10'+ deep trenches for sewers, and they just seem to be in no moods to fill them up. Now some roads which were passable or had been repaired recently (very few) are being dug up for water mains. There is a real enjoyment for the sadists to dig up within a few months of trying to repair them.

Car has served me very well for over 2.5 years and 34000 kms. Since I have a dedicated car for long trips, it makes sense to buy a small hatchback for the city. I have decided to sell my ANHC

Guna - have you narrowed down your new car decision?
I have been in a similar predicament - having been thinking of selling my NHC CVT for a hatch but the family is against it - they say ANHC AT if I want to change. The outflow for me will be greater.

@StarVegabond: Your tips does sound good. There is another thread written by mdsaab on the techniques that he follows over here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...fell-love.html (Does anyone buy a Honda City anymore?! Oops! I did-and fell in love with it!!) (somewhere in pg 18-36). Many of us TBHPians have been benefited with this technique. Please go thru the same and share your thoughts as well.

If you do some occasion outstation drives and if it is going to be a single car, then you need a car which is fairly versatile. But as a dedicated city car, hatch makes perfect sense.
I have not made up my mind yet. I am going to wait for Brio AT. If it comes to buying a i10 AT, I may go the 'pre-owned way.
