Good News at last.
Heard from a valuable source that Fiat Linea 1.6 Multijet will be launched very soon. Might be before deepavali this year

How reliable is the information mate.
I am just about to decide on Linea Diesel? Should I wait up?

Btw need your advice to decide on Fiat Linea T-Jet or Diesel.

I went to the Fiat showroom yesterday.
The On road prices after discounts without haggling are
T-JEt - 9.3 lakhs
Diesel - 9.6 lakhs

I can decide on either and will change my driving requirements accordingly. If I buy the diesel I will take it to office everyday for an overall 50km daily commute. If I buy the petrol it will be more of a weekend car and I shall use public transportation.

I think common sense makes me think I should go for the diesel.

Now my queries are -
1. Other than leather seats, bigger rims, all 4 disc brakes are all the other features on the diesel and T-JET the same?
2. Are quality wise the plastics, interiors, etc now both the same for the diesel and T-JET
3. Any other pros and cons that you all can think of for both diesel and TJET?

I am ok with TATA A** as I own a S10.

Appreciate your response.

Cheers

Thats really a good news. Fiat will do better if they launch it it through their specialised dealership. The TATA connection will do no good to this car.

It's very authentic news.
My vote is for Diesel only. It's very economical and not so bad compare T-Jet power. You can add tuning box too.
Ride & Handling is better in Multi-jet.
Both plastics seems to be same.
T-Jet has 3 Rear headrest but Multi-jet has only 2 in new editions.
Rest everything is very much same.

Thanks very much for sharing this news. I wasn't expecting this to be launched before 2012. Can you please get some more inside information? Is it going to be launched in the facelifted avatar. Would it come in the T-Jet plus version, I mean 16" alloys, all wheel disc brakes, meaty 205 width tyres etc. Any kind of information in this regard shall be highly appreciated.

Thanks for your inputs. I am definitely going for the diesel now.

But your 1.6MJD info has got me thinking what do I do now. Nobody else on the forum is confirming this. Don't we have any other Fiat insiders who can confirm your scoop?

I guess I better be safe than sorry and wait out till Diwali. Hopefully the current deals on the 1.3 would anyway be available in October/November.

But please do PM me or update this thread whenever you get any further infomation on the 1.6

Cheers

Sure, i'll message you once I get the definite details about Linea 1.6 MJD.
Possible, you could wait till this year and buy the newer version right.

I think I am ok waiting for a couple of months if Fiat is getting this for sure.

But if its still iffy then I really don't wanna miss out on the current deals. And you know how our government is and they may increase tax rates on diesels just out of the blue, you never know.

And just like you said, the tuning kit works and although it will not be as good as the 1.6MJD but should serve us adequately.

Sorry, I am thinking aloud but really difficult to make this decision right now with all the variables around. Now only if we had some insider who could clarify on the 1.6MJD.

Cheers

Deepavali!!!

My painstaking research on facts and figures over the last six weeks were just being concluded towards Linea MJD and Bingo!! - one line of info on T-BHP and looks like it will all be on the back-burner for another fortnight at least!!

Thanks for the valuable info aks_karthik.

And guess what, this post may well end up being the single largest reason for Linea not picking up sales in Sep 11 !! !!

Btw, any guesses on the pricing? Or some other thread is active on that?

I asked some of the friends to wait till this year end to buy a new car. Especially Linea. If they release 1.6 MJD , I am the first one to book it. Already I closed bank loan for my Linea to start up the game.

Great news if the 1.6 MJD is making its way here. From what the showroom guys told me, they were expecting it to be launched in early 2012 but that information could very much be false, since you mentioned this source to be authentic.

I beg to differ here. How is the Multijet better than the T-Jet in the handling dept?

check with any T-Jet owner who owned MJD previously. Especially Sathya and some other sold MJD and Bought T-Jet.

You can try yourself by TD one by one and you can realize what I mean.
