Default Fiat Grande Punto Multijet Emotion PK

The D day is tomorrow . It's finally here!

Went and checked out the car today at the dealership. Registeration is done and the car is waiting for a thorough clean up before being delivered.

The first shot of my Punto is here. (Taken with my Nokia E66)

Its a wonderful car had a ride in on few days back.
Did't drive it. The left side indicator controls are bummer IMO

More pics and a detailed ownership review please.

Yes he does. The Punto has the responsiblity to replace my S10. A mean feat for most cars avaliable today! But I am not sure how long I should wait before I go in for the tuning box. I am thinking 10,000kms should be okay or should I wait till the warranty runs out?

You tell me when and where and I am game.

Congrats Amit. The i20D did not fit the Bill I reckon. The price tag and the Handling part inspite of the powerful diesel engine may have tilted your decision towards the Punto.

Nice choice of colour. My favorite color

I booked the Punto on June 24, the i20 Crdi wasn't avaliable then. Still the choice was narrowed down to i20 1.2 Kappa and Punto 1.3 Multijet and Italy won this round over Korea.

Buying Expereince

I think it was June 19 when me and fellow bhpian Sanjeev went to check out the i20 and Punto. Fastlove and netarchie were scheduled to meet us at Fortune Nerul. First stop was Sharayu Hyundai for the i20 1.2. We were met with a thoroughly disinterested salesperson who made us feel like we were intruding into his free time. What a unwelcome feeling it was! We were shown the car and prices were rattled off quickly. Test drive was not offered, we were told that the driver was not avaliable so TD will be scheduled 'next week'. I am still waiting for them to call me and offer the TD. Anyway, checked out the Punto at Fortune, Nerul. Drove it up the Parsik hill, liked it. Our expereince is on the Punto launch thread in the Indian auto scene. Monday, drove to Fortune, Powai and drove it again. Fiat may have impressed me with their S10 but I wasn't going to blindly put 7 big ones on their new car. After thinking things out, I thought that a Peted Punto multijet would be a good enough replacement for my S10. Put the money down on June 24 and endless wait started.

By the way, anyone buying a Fiat from Mumbai, do so at Fortune, Powai. See Paresh Salaskar. He is among the best salespersons any company can have. I bought mine from Fortune Nerul for two reasons:

- I live in Chembur, work in Navi Mumbai. Nerul is closer and easier. Besides, the traffic in Powai is maddening.

- Most dealers have their stock yards outside Mumbai city limits. Nerul is closer to their stock yards then Powai. I wanted to minimise the chances for their drivers to have fun in a brand new car .

Post delivery, I will post my opinion on Fortune, Nerul and my buying expereince with them.

Hint: It's going to be really bad.

Congratulations Amit. The car looks great and red seems to be the apt colour for it. I can imagine your excitement. Its the same with all of us when we are getting a new car. Hope the Grand Punto takes you ahead from where you left off with the Palio.

Do post better pictures and your initial impressions once the car comes home.
