BUT- I am getting the same circa 15 KMPL even on highway runs- probably because I find it difficult to drive at anything less than 120!!!
Can you pls elaborate on the RPM's for Upshifting and downshifting in city driving conditions. I usually upshift at 2000 RPM. Further if you could throw some light on this process of pulling off the ECU fuses plus the benefit.
I find it really hard to drive on 5th gear in city since the car does not feel comfortable on 5th at speeds below 80.
I have done 10,000 kms as of now and the best mileage that i have got{@50%ac utilization} is close to 14.4 in city and 16 on the highway. But mostly the mileage hovers around 13

This was only during my running-in, up to 2500 KM to be precise. I used to up-shift at 2000 RPM, and down-shift at 1500 RPM. Would not hurry in going to the 4th gear, 5th in city was ruled out.

I removed three fuses from the fuse box, by referring to the user manual- they had ECU something marked in the manual. The fuse box has plier-kind of thingy to remove the smaller fuses.

Now I up-shift anywhere after 1500 RPM, and drive around until 1200 RPM in a gear. I don't push into the turbo zone a lot when in city, that happens only when I overtake. Note that 1200 RPM is a rough figure- its more of a instinct, when I hear the engine burring, i down-shift. And ya, a very light right-foot in the city, with 100% A/c and Shell Diesel- these are the other factors.

The right-foot gets so controlled on the in-city runs that whenever there is a highway run, it unleashes fury And thats why my mileage has never crossed 15.7!!

I am actually a bit heavy footed and am in turbo{really love the kick} in most occasions even in the city. BTW what engine oil are you using. I am on Mobil Super 1000 15W-40.
Have put on Michelin XM1+ 195/60/R14 on steel rims. Will this create any issues later.

I am going with what Hyundai pours in the stonker- I changed oil and oil filter on my first service. Will be chaning it again now- for 5000- and am planning to get Mobil Delvac MX.

If you are on stock steel rims then 5.5J will be the rim width- which is ok for your tire size, although recommended rim width is 6J. The side walls of your tires will flex a bit more than they will on the recommended size, the effects i am not so sure of!
