Default Completed 1000 kms in less than a month

I Completed 1000 kms in my black beauty and the engine seems to have become slightly smoother now.
The brakes as I have said earlier could have been better.
The AC compressor cut off is quite loud and is easily heard inside the cabin. The fuel gauge is not very accurate but is much better than my father in law's Indica and my friend's Santro.

Now waiting to get my car to the GM workshop for the reassurance check up. Is there anything in particular that I should look out for during this check up?

Congrats..Yep the Engine becomes smoother and after 2.5-3k you will find the Gearbox also getting smoother.
Yes the brakes should have been much better. I would also like to know if there can be something done to improve the braking of this car .

My AC was not very effective, hence I asked them to check and now its perfect.
Also the RPM was quiet high, that was also taken care.

i think all the points mentioned by you are more or less normal with all the sparks so theres nothing in particular that you might want to get checked.

I agree with you on the AC compressor cut off sound , can't reall do too much about it.

Default Weird braking problem in my new Spark LS

I have a new Spark driven for about 1000 Kms. I have to take my car for the reassurance service soon.

The problem is that when ever I engage a gear and slowly depress the clutch, as in most new cars nowadays, the car moves forward without pressing the accelerator. Now that's normal isn't it.

However I have noticed that as the car picks some speed and with the accelerator still not pressed when ever I try to brake, the brake pedal becomes hard and is not easy to press. However if I press the clutch and then try to brake the brake pedal frees up and can be easily pressed again.

Now whats happening here? Is there a problem which should be rectified or is this normal.

Brake booster needs engine compresson to make brake pedal lighter, in your case I think when you are not pressing the accelerator, engine is not able to supply enough compresson to booster. When you press clutch, engine is not getting any load and booster is getting required compression. Looks normal to me, it may get better with some servicing. However do report this to service center when you go there for service.

My Uncle bought Spark LS around July'09 end. He completed almost 3K now. I drove his car yesterday, as said engine and gear shifting really became smooth now. It was little horrible at the time of purchase. He is getting 14+ in CITY and 18+ on highways..

This trait is absolutely normal, especially with modern MPFi cars which run at a higher idling speed when cold.

Hashim has already answered your second question.

You might also want to check for an air lock in the brake lines, just in case.

+1 to Hashim . You have explained the exact reason.

@Sparkled - You donít have to worry about this. Its pretty normal for the vehicle to move without giving accelerator, infact this gives you a better driving experience as your clutch pedal release wonít be hard. The vehicle will start its motion with half clutch itself (I hope this is the term that the mechanics use). Please check with your Chevy *** service advisor to get your doubts clarified.
