IMO, here majority of Fordians enjoy driving so that could be considered as one of the important point if you planning to pick Ford brand.

I don't know where I read but I kept those lines in my mind while selecting car for me - Always select the manufacturer who is specialists in there field and here Ford/Honda brands known for making best cars [This does not mean other cars/brand are not good].

Another example is Tata & Ashok Leyland is known for making trucks and if tomorrow Ford/Honda decides to produce trucks then for sure Tata's/Ashok Leyland will be having upper hand here.

Now about A.S.S, people still have concern & its natural to think about it. It will be too early for newly purchased car owner to talk about it but I recommend you to read long term ownership of Unni,Suman,Lambo which can give you fair idea about it.

I have been using my car for the past 8 months only and hence cannot comment on the Ford maintenance costs, however based on senior member Suman and Vnabhi's experience it seems to be very reasonable and on par with other sedans out there. For complete details look at Vnabhi's post in the below link, he will provide you the cost for 2 years of maintenance. Ford has also reduced its prices on the parts.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...000-kms-9.html

In my case case apart from the Regular service I have not incurred any other expense and hope the same continues for years to come.

At the end of the day maintenance is also related to your driving style and care. If you drive bad even a reliable Honda or Toyota would give u maintenance nightmares

As already suggested by couple of our members, you have to read the full thread/s to know the opinions of other fiestans. This thread is here to give some general idea about the fieasta car and its ownership details.

Ford has got 2 years or 1L km free warranty plus 2 year EW i.e 4 years or 1.5L km warranty against paying around Rs.8500/- lumpsum. so possibly any major part changes, if requried, will be covered under this warranty
(ofcourse it covers only mechanical or electrical failure and not due to damages caused by the owners)

aravind, you can try this. It should be available in car accessories shops.

Or you can tell the workshop people when you go next time for the service. They have got all kind of cleaning agents?

Yes you are quite correct
I just checked with my dealer who also confirm that Only one offer will be given by the Ford. If you get corporate discount, then no free Insurance.
So thats it.
May be after few days you can again talk to your dealer and try if you can get something better than the present offer?

In the meantime, in one of the local newspaper there was an ad from Hyundai wherein they says that Car prices are likely to go up in January 2010 (5-10%) and again in April. (not sure whether this could be correct or their idea to push up december sales ?)

Cleaning the dash can best be done with am old soft toothbrush and some Dishwashing liquid (Vim/Pril). Make a strong solution in a mug, gently brush the dash plastic with a soaked toothbrush, and there after rinse with a wet cloth in clean water twice.

I read in ET today that car prices may go up by 20K or so in Jan. Some are claiming rising input costs, jap cos are citing the rising yen and some are attributing it to the Euro 4 norms.

Any suggestions for getting a clean shining black dashboard for SXI? its not the usual plastic- they have some rubbery finish.

Seems a worry for me, in that case i will book the car on 01.01.10, right away in the morning so that a price hike after that should not affect my purchase,
i hope that after booking the company will not charge extra, even if the prices go up.

01.01.10 might be a holiday.

Ford's monthly offers typically kick in on the 5th of every month. I would assume they would follow the same pattern for the price hike.

I assume you are waiting for 2010 to get a 2010 manufactured car? Then in that case, you could make the booking in the last week of Dec taking advantage of the Dec offer. Tell the dealer that you are willing to wait for a 2010 manufactured car. And you get a 2010 registration as well. Talk to the dealer. He may be flexible.

10.10.10 looks more attractive !!
Year end offers are something one would not want to miss anyway, so grab the best offers that come your way. To get rid of 2009 from the documents, get the registration done in Jan. Somewhere I read, you wanted to buy an SXI for soft suspension and add sports kit from S, leather seats from ZXI etc. All the best !

I don't think the pricing would be based on the day that the car is booked, it is based on the date on which the car retails, this is what I was told when I booked my car. I would suggest you to check with the dealer.
