It's a full fledged service center and it's the only place which has a body shop. The other centres do not do body work.

I am sure you remember a pair of flyovers that need to be crossed on the way to the race track. It's just after the second flyover. I am guessing that's at least 20 kms from the 100 Feet Road junction. Add another 3 kms from that junction to Annanagar. On the other hand, the Arumbakkam center is just 1.5 kms away.

Default Update

My car has done about 3200 kms till now and the last mileage checked came to 9.3. This included some 60 odd kms of high revving in 2nd and 3rd gear on the track, so I guess it's not too bad. I had filled a tankful couple of days ago and the DTE showed 425, but it started dropping rather rapidly this morning and I felt the car was not touching 70 as easily as it used to before. I immediately checked the tire pressure and they were at 25. Made them all 30 and the zippiness is back again. It was fun to watch the DTE climb up rather than down.

I have a question about the central locks in the Fiesta. If you remove the key, step out and close all the doors, the car locks itself in about 15 or 20 seconds. But it does not do this if there if a person sitting inside even if the key is removed and the doors are all closed shut from outside. Now how does the car know there is someone inside!?

EDIT: I saw a Moondust Silver 1.6S for the first time today. Looked awesome with some really dark tints.

Hey Gilead, good that you got the car back, an excellent paint job and you are enjoying you car as before

I believe that Ford has pick up/ drop facility for services, arent' you using that?

Ps: need to go and check my car's policy for the standard deduction part.

@Gilead
Door Auto lock - Do you mean it happens after a drive?
I used to wash the car in the morning and then park it back to my car parking area and I never used to lock the car. When I go back again (after an hour or so) to take out the car I used to found the car doors are in open mode (not happened the autolock as you explained?)
Anyone else experienced this kind of autolocking???

nairsaab, mine definitely auto locks. I come back from work, stop the Fiesta outside the house, switch off the engine, remove the key and close the doors without locking. Then I bring my 800 out to put the Fiesta in. When I go back to the Fiesta, the doors are locked! BUT if I leave someone inside the Fiesta and do the exact same thing, it does not autolock. Any explanations?

You try this. Start the car and then stop it. Remove the key and close the doors but don't lock it. Come back after 5 minutes and see. I think yours is not autlocking because you did not switch on the engine after unlocking.

Ikoneer, the arumbakkam service center is evry close to my house. I have used the drop facility once and it was driven by some kid. I like the Poonamalee workshop, but it's really far away. I can't come back in an auto which will cost even more than the service itself. And I don't fancy some nut speeding in my car on NH4.

EDIT: I should have checked the brochure on Ford's site first. It says the Fiesta has a 'Programmable Keyless Entry with Auto Relock'. So Nairsaab, auto lock has been programmed in mine and not in yours. But that still does not explain why it does not autolock when someone is inside.

@gilead,
I finally checked my insurance policy from NI..though it does not say in so many words but one suspicious looking exact 1000 figure is present which I guess is the min value that needs to be borne by the customer.

Maybe this is present across all insurance policies to discourage bogus/minimal claims.

=========
Not sure if this has something to do with any human body "sensor"...maybe some coincidence with the door lock/unlock handle position from inside. Let me check..will confirm.

Regarding the programmable entry, isn't it only related to opening of driver side door OR all doors with the remote?

Are u sure this is "keyless"? In my dictionary, this means you don't need the press the remote button but based on proximity, the door will automatically open (like the GM Cruze)!!

Keyless means you don't have to insert the key to lock/unlock the door. Just the buttons on the remote would do. The proximity sensor that you are talking about is probably called something else. Check the auto relock and let me know if it's working in yours.

As Gilead said, it is not keyless. It's just that you do not have to insert the key in the key hole. The buttons on the key will do the job.

Regarding opening of only driver's or all doors, I can say for sure that it is programmable. That means, you can alternately choose to select whether only 1 door or all doors will unlock when you press the remote key. It is configurable from the remote key itself. You have to hold some button combinations for 4 secs approx in the remote key. The sales exec showed it while delivery, but I forgot it right now. May be you can find it in the manual.

But auto lock??? I am hearing it for the first time. I have to read the manual again I think. I have try doing what Gilead said.

Are all these hidden sweet surprises from Fiesta? I see, FORD was really bad with Fiesta marketing.

Autolock - I tried it but not working, may be I need to programme it in the key?

+
regarding opening/closing only one door (driver side) or all sides - it is already explained in our common thread (all fiesta owners-you are here).
After ignition is switched off,Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons (at same time) for atleast 4 seconds. The indicators will flash twice to confirm that the unlocking of only one door (driver side) is programmed. Now you press the open button, only driver side door will be opened. To deactivate this programme (i.e to make all doors open) repeat the process again.

Its close to 15 kms from 100 ft Road, I stay 15 mts from the Arumbakkam workshop and I have never been impressed with their service.

Based on your feedback, I plan to get my service done at their Poonamalee Workshop, yes travel is a pain, but you have frequent buses from Poonamalee and I don't mind hopping into one of those buses if they take better care of my car.

I am also very keen to know as to how the Autolock was enabled. I have been dying to have this feature as it is very useful.

The Poonamalle service center is good because not too many cars come there. The Arumbakkam center is jam packed all the time with hardly any place for cars and people to move around. Cars get easily scratched there. Plus they are always in a hurry to finish things and move on to the next car. Things are much more relaxed at Poonamalle. The quality of the wash is much better as well. If you go there, let me know if there are any direct buses to Annanagar.

I have no idea how auto locking works in mine, but it definitely works. I tested again this morning. It auto locked but without the blinking the lights. Instructions on how to enable it must be there in the manual.

Auto-locking works in mine - after switching off the ignition, if you come out of the car, and all doors/boot are already closed, even if you do not press the lock button on the remote, central locking gets activated automatically after about a minute or so. And, yes, this auto-lock happens without the blinking of lights as Gilead mentioned.

Have not been able to test if any person remains inside the vehicle, then it auto-locks or not, as per Gilead's experience.

Guys who are not being able to replicate the auto-locking funciton, it seems like their unlock button is already programmed to open only the driver side door..pls check this and disable this functionality. It may be possible that either auto-lock or driver side door open can only be active at a time..need to check however.

Auto lock working in my Fiesta too. Haven't checked what happens if there is a person left inside.
I don't think the car can "sense" that there is someone in the car. More likely the car's body controller relies on signals sent by the opening & closing of individual doors. Just my hunch. Which could be totally wrong.

NO,when I press the unlock button, all the doors used to open (and not only driver side), however the Autolock function is absent. I may have to reprogramme the key remote.
My second service is due end of this month, so thinking that I will ask the workshop guys to do this autolock programming
