thats a decent mileage, considering there is quite a bit of city driving. However quite variation seen at 11 and 8 kmpl. I guess variation between city and highway driving ?

8kmpl was because of engine mal function , Scorpio losing power and reverse gear not getting engaged, I have to drive 150kms back home with max speed of 30kmph.
The best range for FE is to drive between 1.5K -2K RPM the speed will be in range of 80-90kmph.

yeah, had read that ordeal and how painful that driving was. so at these ranges of driving what will be the best FE one can expect ? I guess its with AC on always.

Yes AC is 100% on, FE expected with the range I mention should be ~11kmpl, 2.5K RPM and you should expect the FE ~9Kmpl, this is what I have experienced in 5K kms that I have completed. Over all I see this to be a good driving range and 11kmpl to be a good FE from AT and occasional 4x4 usage.

Hi - during my onward trip to Bihar- via kota-Jhansi - approx. 2460kms- I got an overall FE of 12.4kmpl- I drove at all speeds - free roads I had even touched / crossed 130kmph- largely -I was around 90kmph. Last 200kms - average speed was 20kmph(10hours to reach destnation).
In normal driving in city - I am also getting around 10kmpl. Last fill up was the worst- around 8.5 kmpl - which had mostly short runs within the suburb with frequent speeding and braking events and stop go routine. AC 100%on.

I did 1500KM of Nagpur-Shirdi-Anjanta-Ellora-Lonar-Nagpur on 16/17/18 April and the average FE was 10KMPL, If you drive continuously 110+ it takes a nose dive[9+] while with in range of 90-100 its always gives you 10+ is what I have experienced in 7K kms till date.

Default Question on AC/Air Filter

Hi,

I've read through the thread with a lot of interest as I'm keen on the Scorpio AT, and there aren't that many of them!

I have a question that perhaps you could help me answer. I test drove the manual (no AT available to test in hyd) and found that a lot of fumes were coming into the car from the AC - in recirc mode. Not sure if that is particular to the TD vehicle or if you've noticed it and there is some way to correct it. Can you comment on your AC experience? Do you feel that the recirculation mode is good?

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

AC is effective and yes the fumes does comes in through AC, I believe it's design fault in Scorpio.

Pramod Where do you prefer to keep the AC regulator at? 1 or 2 or else higher??In summers 2 is preferred but it makes a lot of noise at 2. 1 is OK for other seasons.

In all probability the 'fumes' are just condensed water vapour. They occur due to rapid cooling. Guess it should be in your manual (as I found it in my i10 manual).

Preferably 1, but now it has to be on 2, when I park it for sometime in open I have to use 3/4 for few minutes to get the cabin cooled and then switch back to 2, the noise is really an high with 2 onward, not sure if there is any cure of this!!

PS:Have posted a different thread related to the recent 1500km drive to ajanta and ellora here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...ora-lonar.html (Ajanta Ellora and Lonar)

Very informative review there pramod. Appreciate your efforts.

One question: We are considering a VLX 4X2 AT as our next car. Got to know that the 7 seater captain seats version isn't available in the AT variant. 7seater(with side facing rear seats) and 8seater are the only options available. Is it true?

Thanks for the information pramods. Will see the travel thread too!
I am sure the fuel consumption gets affected if we move the regulator to 2,3,4 and so on.
The noise @ 2 is a genetic Scorpio defect!Maybe your older 2.6 CRDe too had it.

As far as I know this is true, I had a captain seat VLX and wanted the AT also in the same configuration but it was not available, but 4x4Addict got 4wd Scorpio in captain seat arrangment in Feb, so please confirm again!!
