Hmm this seems to be a recurring problem. I used to get around 12 earlier (before 1st servicing) which dropped to 11 or so after that and now after the 2nd servicing I am getting around 10.5 or so.

However, I am giving the car the benfit of doubt because I do know that my driving style has changed over time and with the run in period restrictions ending. Whereas I used to religiously change gears between 2k-2.5k rpm earlier, I now occasionally take her to 3.5k - 4k once in a while. I am sure this isnt doing any wonders to the FE!

Hi All,
I have been driving an SX4 for the last one year.
Have any of you had problems in shifting gears? What I mean is, did any of you ever feel the rigidity while changing gears? (I found changing gears in City extremely smooth)

Maruti has increased SX4 price effective 1st April by around 50K and hence the new pricing.

As gavinimurthy says, the only added benefit could be exchange or loyalty bonus worth 25K in Bangalore. I have not checked though of late. They might not reduce anything from their margin in terms of cash, however, you could bargain for more free essential accessories. If you wish to know more pm me.

Btw, I have done about 14K km, and the other main issues are niggling rattles and squealing brakes. Else I love the way the car rides over good and bad roads.

Thats actually pathetic. For me 2nd service was done 2 months back and FE is same as before - practically i have not seen any decrease or increase in FE before and after services. Tired with this i have stopped measuring FE now - no point. Its 10 +- 5% for me.

BKBK - On a lighter note, Better to acquiant yourself with SX4 gear shifting. You could ask the dealer to apply some grease near the lever junction.

Pickup was alright, not as snail-paced as the Linea, but adequate. Frankly I've stretched my SX4 in a more ways than I could muster with my friends' car, hence likely to be a bit biased against the ANHC.

Slam hard if you want to stop and prepare well in advance before you hit a red-signal. With the SX4, I can keep accelerating up until about 20-25 meters from a red-signal and still stop with distance to spare.

but the same claustrophobic feeling (of Linea Swift et al) hits you the moment you step in.
Fornax, all these statements prove is that either you are not really a very good driver, or you are just too biased. ANHC engine is quite refined - more so than SX4, SX4 does not hold a candle to ANHC on acceleration, and its interiors is anyday more spacious than SX4.

And as for breaking, thats just really a bad driving example you put.

Why would they bother? They are busy voting with their wallet, and thats why ANHC sells 3000+ cars to SX4s 1000s. 3 times

nobody claimed ANHC was good for off - roading. Its not the intended use case of ANHC. Buy a SUV.

Well - there you go - maybe you are lucky, or maybe its too early

But seriously, congrats on your car dude. SX4 is a good VFM car, and i am sure it will serve you well. Just that you dont have to put down other cars to justify your purchase.

I am just kidding. I guess I am not biased to any car. The only thing I hate about ANHC, that honda charge much more for the less substance.

brilliant pics. If its yours, congrats and i need to read your travelogues Yep, SX4 has a good GC and can do some off roading. But if you really want to do off roading, dont you agree a diesel 4x4 SUV is a better bet - convenience and FE wise?

RK, quick q: in the last two pics the car seems to be dis-proportionally elongated. Is that on purpose or the wide end lens issue?

And those are the people SX4 is meant for. I repeat - SX4 is a great car for the money. Its just that fornax went a little overboard with some silly claims

yes sir mine. And sir no worries, I just thought to bring little fun in the thread .

Regarding the last pics, I guess its the angle which makes car look elongated. But no wide angle or anything else done

Regrading Log, I started it but people lost interest, but may be I will post the pics atleast http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...eh-2010-a.html (rkbharat's photolog for Leh 2010)

Dear Skywalker,

I hate to reply to personal comments, but I took a test drive in my friends brand new Honda City, and posted what I found. If that's biased - suck on it!!!

Secondly I'm in US for the last few months, and you might be interested in knowing that I found ZERO Honda City's in the most elite market. Yes, I did see a lot of Civics, but then their ratio is 1:10 with say a GM / Toyota. Thirdly, next time you enter an SX4, please take off your blindfold before judging its spaciousness against your Honda-City...and while you are at it, make sure you remove the ear plugs too to judge the noise levels w/o the audio on.

Lastly - my only request to you is, please don't pollute this thread with your qualitative judgments about other peoples' driving skills and / or the silliness of their comments.

Take it easy guys....both are great cars in their own rights. Ill mention again -

SX4 is more spacious of the two. its taller and longer and certainly has more interior space, the old city ZX could hold a candle to SX4 in interior space not the new ANHC.

ANHC is not only a better drivers car with better performance it also gives better FE and resale. The build quality also may be better. Though the new VVT is no slouch either.

If SX4 rolls due to its height then City hits every bump and pothole on town. its a fair trade off.

SX4 is certainly more VFM with much more extras, but you dont loose any money on City due to its better resale.

Personally The Honda City ZX Vtec was the best cross between these two cars. Sadly they dont make em anymore.

All in all i find City to be a better car but just marginally.

And yeah im a SX4 owner and happy that i bought it over a ANHC as it suited me more than the Honda. A better car is not always best suited to ones need.

Wow, you went to US! Impressive. Phoren gaya! That says a lot

How many SX4's did you see? Wait, how many Suzuki's did you see?. I am sure Honda and Toyota's are running for their life there due to the Suzuki onslaught there!

What's your theory about nobody even gives a heck for Suzuki for the most elite market in the world?

I have TD'ed the SX4, and my TD is available as early as 2007 if you can search the threads. And if probably you cant digest the fact that 3x people by ANHC coz they think its better than SX4 so be it. Proof of the pudding is in eating.

Well, dude you started it by giving silly statements about other cars. First rule of criticism - dont dish it if you cant take it.

Anyway, it was nice talking. I am not into ad hominem's - so I am out of this thread - so you have fun and continue with your fallacies.

Zero Cool, agree SX4 is taller and longer - but that does not mean it had more interior space. For an accurate calculation on interior space, acceleration etc, i recommend you check out Smartkat's Sedan comparison thread. Good eye opener.

I completely agree to you statement that SX4 is definitely a great car for the money.

Honestly Honda City is nowhere close to being a premium Honda sedan that its' made out to be, and I'm not even counting those real premium Acuras.

Here's an quote from Wikipedia about Honda City "The nameplate was then revived for use on a series of compact four door sedans particularly aimed at developing markets, mainly sold in Asia outside of Japan but lately also in Latin America and Australia.". In short "El Cheapo".

Let's make it simple shall we - which is better? A car that's sold all over the world or one that's only sold only in developing markets?

A cars exterior does not completely decide how spacious it will be. I find SX4 more spacious than other sedans in its segment not just because its longer and wider but because it is TALLER. Im 5'10 and as broad as a Punjabi dude ought to be, with taller CABIN (not GC) i get more thigh support from the seats from sx4 than city which has a very low seating position infact imo it gives a accent like seating.

with me driving and my evil twin brother in the passanger seat sx4 gives me ample room to stuff 3 or even 4 of my friends at the rear seat. i could not have had the luxury of stuffing 4 well fed punjabis at the back of a city (at least not comfortably) and hence i choose sx4 over the city.

I know the strengths and weaknesses of my car well and space is not one of its weaknesses.

Curious, would you rate the following as a weakness or strength?
1. Braking
2. Seats
3. Engine sound insulation
