As per sales guy 'Extended warrantee will come from FORD INDIA after 45 of days' is this true? Please let me know.
Thanks,
I don't remember how many days after they issued me the extended warranty receipt but I do remember that it was not delivered along with original invoice and car. So it is quite possible that it is issued after 45 days.

Thanks,
It's two months and I've not got mine yet. When i last contacted the dealer, they said it normally takes 6 weeks.

I am too lazy to follow up, but now that you've refreshed my mind, I shall do so.

This is the third year extended warranty. It was offered free as corporate discount. Don't think the number of km. change. It stays as 1 lakh km.

My figo is 2 and 1/2 years old done 25k. During last week rain, the wipers are not cleaning properly and I see an "arch pattern" in the windshield.

On reading the wiper thread, that Aero twins are better and available in the 22" and 16" sizes in Bangalore.

Is it time to change the OE wipers? Where is it available in Chennai?

Hi dhinchak,
PCM stands for powertrain control module or rather it is the engine management control module. You require a PCM programming only if there is a software update. And if that's the case then it should be done free of cost and they can't charge you for this.
With the software controlling the engine functionality, the tuning of the engine is actually not required. Along with the s/w algorithm, there are certain Calibration parameters (specifically set during the engine development cycle, initially on the engine dyno ,later on chassis dyno and finally during vehicle testing) are responsible for the engine behavior both at steady state and transients. The A.S.S guys are not simply capable enough and also not authorized to change these Calibration values, forget the code.
So even if engine tuning is required there must be a s/w part no. upgrade and this also calls for a PCM programming to be done free of cost.
It would be great if you can post these specific questions to them and update us their reply .

Thanks shipnil. I am told by Ford that for new cars even 4th year extended warranty is available but again km's are limited to 100k km's.

I bought a Figo in Jul 11 and already have 3rd year extended warranty which covers 3 years and 120k km's. I wanted to get 4th year extended warranty as now it's been made available by Ford but I am being told that even though my 3rd year extended warranty covers till 120k km's, 4th year will only cover till 100k km's.

I am expecting to cover 95k km's by end of 3rd year and in that case there is no point to go for 4th year.

Can any of the Figo owners share if they have any details on this. Thanks

I stumbled upon a new feature in my figo last week. I was doing 120 and had to brake quite sharply to avoid a cow. ABS worked beautifully, but that aside, the hazard lights turned on automatically. It felt good - as i wanted to do it myself but could not as there was no time in the rush between braking and avoiding the cow. I had to then manually switch them off.

Also i think i have taken ABS so much for granted, i am now not keen on driving a non ABS vehicle.

Music player's volume is bumped up as well once you cross 120.

Please don't. There are too many variables on the road & anything can go wrong. And components of a Car may go wrong at any point of time and anything. Steering, Brake...

Please keep error margin for this while driving.

You do not need to do this. The hazards will turn off on their own after a few seconds.

Drive Safe
I completely agree with you and want to clarify that it was an empty straight strech of NH when I was driving 120. Still probably a little too much for our highways. I generally cruise at 100-110 when I do my regular blr-cbe runs.

Thanks anyways. Will keep this in mind. My commentnon ABS was to emphasise the point around how useful/ life saving it could be and needs to be made mandatory across all vechiles.

took the figo tdci for 2nd service (10k) to kairali ford service center in ernakulam (palarivattom). One word to say : pathetic.

1) You have to push, push & push people there to get anything done. I experienced typical "brash" attitude from the SA's/mechanics over there - "typical kerala workforce" (you know, when they call you 'sir' just because their training officer told them to call the customer as 'sir' but they talk behind your back).

2) the underbody of my car had scraped badly in many places leading to the 3M coating getting chipped off in many places. I had to push them to re-touch it (did examine the touch up job after being done - i would say done well) despite getting lots of "no problem sir, nothing will happen, it is only little bit" from the SA. Here is the funny part : to do this touch up the vehicle had to travel to another of their workshops in kalamassery and despite my vehicle being the 2nd into service that morning, it was back after the touch-up (max 10 minute job) only late in the afternoon, for the original service.

3) they charged me 580 rupees for wheel-balancing (they say, they had to add some weights) + wheel rotation + wheel alignment => not sure whether they are supposed to charge me that but it was late evening (7:30 pm) by the time the service got over and bill was given to me, did not have the energy or patience to sit and argue, hence paid up.

4) the cleaning job was PATHETIC :
a) the car went into wash around 6:30 pm (meanwhile the whole place is already in shut-down mode with employees idling around chit chatting and no proper lighting inside the shop floor) When I asked the SA why the underbody is not jet-washed, this is his reply "sir, here we dont have ramp, only a small shed for water washing, so until the next month when a ramp will be ready, there is no water wash for the underbody; otherwise for washing underbody, we will have to take it to vennala (another service center of kairali)" - totally unpardonable excuse.
b) the wipe-down & interior cleaning that happens after the above "wash" is even more inexcusable : some casual labourers hired on daily basis were fiddling around with a battered old vaccum cleaner, very very dirty wiping clothes in their hand (which left lots of dirt marks on the window glasses and the RVMs), none of the cup-holders/glovebox/seats were cleaned properly. They even swapped my titanium floor mats with some other rubber mats of some other car (the SA when delivering the car to me did not even notice this, I had to find this out in the dim light and show it to him)

looks like kairali ford don't do everything at one place - some jobs are done in palarivattom, some in vennala & some in kalamassery (body shop) - why cant they have everything in one place and save the customer time and trouble tracking where the vehicle is right now & why it has gone there ?
I would not recommend this service center to anybody in ernakulam.

Fairly put across I should say! But the question is "have you decided to live with this issue or plan to fix it"? Or you are one of those who think, its NOT my problem; I will anyway find another A$$?!

I suggest you send a mail to Ford management with the details and crack the whip. Its only because 95% of the customers crib & not bother to take further steps ensure these guys stay in their comfort zone!
