Alignment check is free, mentioned in service booklet, but balancing will be paid service. If you just get the alignment checked, no need to pay for it, but if you go for balancing and alignment, it has to be paid for.

1. Balancing was free for me as well during 1st service. Afterthat I didn't do it from outside. During 2nd service SA asked if I want to do alignment/balancing and I said yes, only to discover a charge of Rs. 600.

That brings a question,
Is it better and cheaper to do Balancing/Alignment from outside? How much does it cost on average?

2. Diesel Filter price hike has suked big time. Stores person mentioned that the same filter is used for Linea/Punto/Vista/Manza. And its same revised price across the board. He showed me the Tata CRM software screen showing price for the filter as Rs. 1799. He went on to say that prices are revised by Tata and its a centralized system used by all dealers across India and it would be same price. After this I had to trust him.

Fellow Linea/Punto owners do post your service experience for everyones benefit.

+++++++
Issue2 Rear door bidding coming out: During same visit instead of replacing the bidding Balaji folks tried to fix the exsiting one which they were doing since May. They applied same temporary fix but on the face told me its been replaced. The bidding came out again in couple of days. This time I visited the SC and gave some music to their ears. A new bidding was brought from stores and replaced in front of my eyes in 30 mins. Since then no issues with bidding.
+++++

I am facing this issue in my 2 week old Linea :( Will need to go to service station and get it changed under warranty. Why does Fiat do this?

Smile Re: Proud Owner - F. Red Fiat Linea MJD E-Pack

Today my Fiat Linea turned 1. It's her Birthday. We got her a new floor mats as a b'day Gift. On Saturday did polish job and got her shining from all angles. Also did insurance renewal (for Rs. 16,339 from Future Generalli). This morning got up early and did a wash and got her spanking new. On the way to office got her PUC done (somewhere I had read that PUC on new cars is valid for a year). The carbon rating during PUC was found as 8. Asked the guy what is the range/limit. He says it should be under 65.

Overall Feedback:
It's simply the most beautiful, stylish and yet very solid and stable car. We all love her a lot. The journey and experience during 1st year has been amazing. There are lots of learnings regarding maintaining and driving a new car. Most of the bad experiences were due to poor workmanship at service centre during accident repair. Instead of changing service center I have learnt and tried to maintain the relationship by adapting myself.

Stats:
Total Mileage: 18K
Best FE On Highway: 24.4 KMPL with 90% AC between Jalna - Thane trip (454 Kms) in Dec-2010.
Top Speed: 160 KMPH on Mum-Pun Exp Highway
Accesories: PU Leather Seat Covers, Floor Mats, Underbody Anti-Rust Coating
Accesory/Upgrade Wishlist: MapMyIndia VX Model, Powerful Headlamp Bulbs, Rear Spoiler in that order

Bye for now. Take care!

I wish, many more happy returns of the day to your beloved Fiat Linea, Autocop.

Regarding the powerful headlamp bulbs, there are many complaints against headlamps getting darkened [possibly due to excessive heat generated because of the higher wattage].

J.Ravi, Thanks for the b'day wishes. So far touchwood the headlamps not showing any signs of aging. Just that I feel the need for more brighter light intensity in the night. Have read fellow Lineaites going for OSRAM Bulbs. You have added lots of accesories, have you upgraded HL Bulbs? do you have any good suggestions?

Sorry, Autocop, I am afraid of my Linea's headlamps getting darkened due to powerful headlamps. So, I have refrained myself from upgradation of headlamp bulbs.

Autocop, birthday wishes to your Linea.

I use Philips extreme power. I wouldn't say they are very good but "slightly better" than the stock bulbs. I dint see much improvement from stock as read in forums.

Reviews suggest Philips extreme power is better than Osram Night breakers.

BNZJON, Thanks for the wishes and sharing your experience!

After reviewing your experience and fears expressed by J.Ravi, I would probably hold Bulbs upgrade for now.

I am seriously looking for a GPS solution in near future. The options I considered so far are,

1. Maps and Software only (Install on my GPS enabled Andriod Smartphone)
2. Dedicated GPS Navigation Unit with built in maps

Option1 would be within the budget. Most probably I will go for the maps and software from MMI for now. Will save Option2 for future.

I need some help regarding routing Smartphone audio thru my Linea speakers. My smartphone has 3.5mm jack. Suggestions from members are most welcome.

I am using my WinMo with installed google maps. The downside is that you pay GPRS charges. With 3g, speeds are quite good. Another option is offline map service like NaviMapper (for winmo). I use this frequently. You can download the maps from their server on your internet PC and transfer those maps to hand held device. It has route recording facility as well, so you can share the routes with different people. Connecting smart phone with speakers may not be very effective as it won't be amp driven. Some people have successfully put an aux-in cable and then used it as a line-in facility. You will have to find a Blau dealer for that.

im using MMI with my Nokia N95 8gb and it works perfectly fine, so you also should not face any issues with that.

You can try an aux cable for the same , provided there is aux in port in the HU of your ride ,

Cheers

Thanks for sharing the experience!

I am using 8GB card in my phone. Currently it has about 400MB left. Need to understand if I will have to offload some content from my card.

Can you please confirm the amount of space consumed by MMI Maps/Software on your phone/card?

As soon as I go out of Thane/Mumbai I get into roaming. The roaming GPRS charges can be unpredictable. Would prefer Offline version. Will need to check if Navimapper will support Android. Thanks for the pointer!

As long as I can route my phone audio thru speakers and able to hear/understand instructions it would do. Will the non-existance of AMPs still affect?

Does Linea HU have a Aux-In port? May be it has, but it's hidden for which I need to find a Blau dealer? Appreciate if you can clarify.

Are you sure there are data charges on roaming ? Data rates usually are usually the same everywhere, unless one uses a shared network (example vodafone using airtel network on roaming). My vodafone connection does not charge me extra and my 2gb free data usage is also valid everywhere.
