Could you please provide details about where it was ordered and how much did it cost you including shipping if any. Does it come with any warranty? Also are they any better than the ones that you can buy in a local car accessory shop? Would this be a straight fit? Thanks in advance. I have been looking for them for my Fiesta.
I got the DRLs through ebay.
Here is the link: On Sale Daytime Running Lights LED drl lights Fog light - eBay (item 170625368180 end time Jun-05-11 17:48:06 PDT)
It is from HongKong. The quality is okay for the price. But if you need really good quality ones, then try the universal DRLs from Hella, Philips etc. They are extremely costly.
If you are in Munich, then you will be able to find good german brands there as well.
This one does not come with the dimmer control like the Hella/Philips.
Fitting: depends on where you want to fix it. In my case, I need some DIY work to fix it on the bumper grills.
I have checked some of the auto accessory shops in Ernakulam NH bye-pass zone. Only few varieties are available with them.

I bought my DRLs from here:
$28.00 - Universal Waterproof White 8-LED 120-Lumen Daytime Running Fog Lights for Car (Pair) - Car LED Light Bulbs

Its just fine with the price I've paid for and nothing coming near to it from the nearby accessory shops in Cochin.

Thanks salbin and sajjt for the info.

sajjt where did you get it fixed? Is there a separate switch for this? Do you keep it on always?

I am not in Munich now, will try to source these in my next trip, if not done already otherwise.

There is lot of space on both sides of the bumper near the fog. Its screwd to the bumper with the supplied bolts. I've connected it to the position lamps so that it wont be on all the time. You can also wire it to the accessory line so that it will be on once you turn on the key. There is another kit available with headlamp monitor wire which will make sure that the DRL will be off once the HL is on.

Hey Salbin... just went through the entire thread. I have booked a Beat LT Super red and will get delivery next week. I think I have adequate tech know-how on the Beat powertrain but I have to confess I am taking lessons from your thread on the accessories

I have already asked for the AutocopXS remote locking and the auto window roll up system taking cue from you (and the fact that I had left the windows in my UVA down several occasions loosing petty change from the ash tray and then buying Black Hit to get rid of the mosquitoes). Now I am trying to get the Neo red Boomerang alloy but they seem to be out of stock everywhere. I have sent a mail to their sales department - awaiting their reply.

I also read the feedback on the 2 ECU calibration versions. From the info I have, people who are buying Beat post Jan 11 are getting Smartech II engines with the new calibration by default and that works fine. Its some of the older Korean engine (before the GM Talegaon engine plant got into action, engines were imported from Korea) which have a tendency to knock with the second version of ECU mapping. Let me dig into my 'sources' and see if I can get more inside info on this.

Advance wishes for a wonderful and safe driving experience with your Beat.
Since it is a Smartech II engine, you should not worry on the ECU mapping upgrade.
Does that Super Red and the alloy red match? IMHO the red boomerang is slightly maroon-ish in shade, where as the super red is pure red. Neo is a good Indian brand. I think Neo is having a distributor near to Double road (Near Lal Bagh area). Reliance Autozone is also a dealer for Neo.

BTW is there any other way of getting rid of the mosquito (other than Hit spray)?
My apartment parking lot has lot of mosquito, while opening the door for getting in / out itself few mosquito get inside and I am finding it difficult to send them out- even by driving with windows open.

I am still feeling lazy to get the DRLs fixed. Have to make an angular bracket to fix it. Thinking of using a 3M double sided tape for fixing the bracket on the bumper.

You were right about the Boomarangs - I finally found them in the Reliance Autozone today morning and they are indeed very dark red. Also I think they are not readily available in 14". I am going for the Zeki E337's instead. They are chrome finish and have a bright red strip around the rim periphery. More importantly, my wife picked them so nothing much left to decide

Regarding mosquitoes - I think there are car perfumes with repellent capabilities. I never tried them but let me see if they are available in the HSR Autozone in my next visit this week.

3M double sided tapes should be good enough for the DRLs as LED would be what - a few grams apiece? Brackets will have self weight which would be higher than what they would support for DRL strips, right?

Looking forward to see more of your pics, especially with DRLs ON

As for the last version, with the S-TEC engines, they were imported from and Korea and there were three engine versions. The first two versions, IIRC it was EC1 & EC2, Beat owners went in for the remap where required. The EC3 version, came tuned already and there have been no issues reported. I have the version 3, and the car is perfect (touch wood)

Now for the mosquitoes, even I am going paranoid with it. I spray hit in both my cars at night to get rid of them. And at times, on Koramangala Inner Ring Road I found that when sitting at those signals, best to keep windows up, as there are a million mosquitoes there and they come in. Can someone shed a few names on insect repellants for cars. I am not too sure if something like HIT etc is safe, considering the harmful smell that can linger around and not mention I have a kid as well

I had heard about them before... googled today and found this.

Mosquito Repellent car gel perfume products, buy Mosquito Repellent car gel perfume products from alibaba.com

They seem safe but read the fine print before buying. When it comes to kids being exposed, better double check the supplier profile as well. As I said I will check if they are available in Reliance Autozone in HSR layout this Thursday when I go for changing to alloys.

Alternatively, you can try moth balls. I did that for mice problem with great effect. Don't know if they work for insects as well.

There are some ultrasonic repellents around but even wikipedia says they are ineffective. :(

@XH_Vee
Thanks for the inputs.

At last.. I managed to get some time to fix the Merc style LED DRLs which was received 2 weeks back.
Did the fixing job myself.
I made an L-bracket with a sheet metal piece and fixed it to the bumper lower grill middle member using 3M double sided adhesive tapes.
For the time being, I have connected to the parking lights. I am planning to make a dimming circuit like the OEMs later.(DRL will be on during day time and it will get dimmed or switched off when the head lamp is switched on)
Here are some pics after the install:

I will try to take some snaps in the day light and put it here shortly.

Salbin, good work mate and nice to see the DRLs in action. I am sure that will be real eye catcher in real life. Its a pain to take a crystal clear snaps of these high power LEDs as the normal settings on the cam will be over exposed. Secure it properly as there are many smart vandals out there who can snatch this within minutes.

You are right.. Getting it pictured is very difficult.
I am also worried about the vandals. The very next day after doing the VHT, somebody has tried scratching the tail light surface. Luckily the scratch mark is very light over the clear coat and it can be removed with rubbing compound. Now I feel it is better that I did not go for the tinting film for smoking the tail lamp.

Looks great Salbin - the DRLs. It is great that you document all your activities in great details so that guys like me don't have to 're-invent the wheel'.

I am getting the delivery of my Beat today afternoon. Decided to take the delivery on a weekday afternoon to avoid crowds - both in showroom and road. I will drive straight to Reliance Autozone for the Alloys, etc. I will try to post a few snaps tonight.
