Now I will be shot anytime for mentioning this , god save my soul for being bold.
So you mean to say Fiat sent a superior Punto with 171mm GC for homogolation to ARAI and they are selling us Inferior Punto with less than 114.3mm GC.

Nice posts. Looking at hidden areas, getting under, washing inside the wheel covers and finding a measuring tape...You indeed are a FIAT owner.

FIATs can never be a family transport machine, or just a car. It become a Partner for LIFE. You got to do any thing for its well being.

NOTE: Now am kind of very busy with some exams coming up. Next I will be posting some more pictures like of the Turbocharger, intercooler, and dig in to show all the PUNTERS what they can't normally notice, as these components are hidden from line of sight.

"I want FIAT owners to be NOT just FIAT owners, but a FIATian for LIFE"

My parent have gone for a trip in our PUNTO to Yercaud, Salem, TN on occasion of their wedding anniversary. mostly it should be total drive of 500KM. Had called them to find out about the vehicle, mom said they climbed 20 hair-pin curves for the hill station. And the vehicle din't touch its nose any where .
Will give a small report on it today night or tomorrow.

Actually, the car looks bad with black rims in this particular picture. But in real it looks sportier and sexier, you feel its Grande Punto and not just Punto

Oh ok. For a moment I thought I missed to visit such a waterfall in Yercaud!!!. Looks like the climate was good when they visited with cloud cover and the water in Hogenekkal is also not bad. Wishing your parents many more years of togetherness.

Dude, you are living in Bangalore.... Road Tax that we pay for the carpeted roads in KA is only between 13 ~ 18 % of the cost of vehicle! For a vehicle like the Punto it would be 14%. add to it the additional Cess and registration costs.
basically Ex-Showroom Cost + Road Tax + Cess = On Road Price

Default Happy 2K KM !

Hi all,

My Punto crossed the 2K KM mark, will leave for 1st service after 4th of July.
Had removed the wheel covers some time ago, in future shortly will be fixing the plastic hub caps which come for PP/118's etc, as they are very cheap and also gives a rough sports look.

I pulled out all the FIATS from the wheel covers, now will stick the same with 3M DS tape on the hub caps as the OD of the logo is equal to ID of hub caps center.

Default A/Con not effective ?

Hi people,

Is your PUNTO's A/C too hot ? Not cooling much as it should be doing !
Again note serious issue here.
"Its can't be corrected my doing some thing to the ECU as stated by some Bhpian in the Niggling issues thread"

Please note that, ECU is not way connected to the cooling of the A/Con.

"When all components are assembled at the plant, in the hurry of completion of work in the small time limit alloted for a car, some components may not be fastened to 100% may be 80%. The remaining fastening and rechecks for such errors are done by the dealers at the shock-yard before the delivery"

So coming back to the A/Con: when fitting this, the hoses may not be properly secure in all the cars, some small leakage will be there, or accumulation of dust in the condenser hence this is corrected at the 1st service when the customer complains of poor cooling.

Even my Punto was bad at cooling, but now after the 1st service the cooling is SUPER COOLING

While reconnecting and fitting the hoses right is one solution, so is the ECU map mentioned in the other thread. That was mainly an issue in some Petrol models (not the diesel) and tweaking the ECU took care of when the compressor was turned on or off.
