Cool WIP Pics at the Primer Stage

I have been taking pictures at almost every stage of the car. Here are some pictures of the final Primer being put on the car !!

There is also a picture showing the "hyper silver" for the alloy against the sample of the body paint.

The stage has come for me to buy the tyres. The OE size is 195/65/15 on a 15x7J alloy.

# Option 1 stick to OE size, it does not look under tyred becasue of the 7J alloys
# Option 2 go on a slight upsize i.e. 205/60/15
# Option 3 215/60/15 this is the perfect upsize in terms of dia difference BUT size is not available in Indian companies (as per my understanding)

Thinking of going with Yokohama V550's or maybe S drive if that size is available.
This car is being kept all OE spec so ride comfort comes before looks (or does it)

Any suggestions welcome & NO I am not changing the OE alloys, they will look like new once painted !

Thanks - any suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Ok here are some pictures of the final coat of "white" with a clear coat, slurp slurp

The car really looks NICE to my eyes - I guess it has to after all the $$$$$, no but seriously the bodywork seems brilliant.

Let your comments follow gentlemen !!!!!

The paint job is simply awesome. Can see the shine already, i presume this is before the rubbing and final polish? If yes then i can imagine what the final finish would look like. I OE alloys will look good in the colour you've selected and i like these alloys more than the other aftermarket options. When will it be 100% ready? Cant wait to see.....Good luck!

First of all customary congrats for the ever graceful Merc. The paint job has been done nicely. And I just loved the OE alloys. When would it be ready to scorch the NCR roads?

Yup Ripper this is fresh out of the paint booth, no rubbing no nothing.

Post the paint job the interior will be sorted, power windows, a new Music system with Rainbow speakers etc.

So I'd say an easy 10 days at the least.

My dream car...Sigh, I still remember reading the road test of it in Auto India and drooling on how well built it felt, how smooth it was to drive and how wonderfully it handled. I had mentally made up my mind to buy one whenever possible.

Congrats on your buy and the amount of time, effort and money spent by you on it emphasizes the love that your harbour for Utopian.

One small question though. Wasn't the w124 diesel supposed to have slats on the front right fender? Didnt see them on your car..

Thanks, Yes the Indian version of the diesel did indeed have the slats on the front fender. This however is an import. Hence the slats are missing.

Some pictures from the progress on the car today. The car standing next to mine is a newish Merc. It is also white. But when you compare the two in flesh, I think the white on my car looks way better than the "chalky off white" which came as the standard white on later models.

So far - so good. Time for the bumpers to go on & the rubbing polishing to start.
Next stop - the interiors

The rims look Brand new. Take a look.

Wow, in case you are able to refresh/refurbish/renew the interiors, you could very well have the best W124 on TBHP thus far. Keep up the good work and all the best.
