Palio doesn't seem to age, does she?
I've decided that I'm not gonna sell Palio, just going to keep her.

@praful, do you know that in certain aspects Palio outsmarts Punto - GC & Steering feel comes to mind immediately
lovely pic. palio looks mature and experienced and the punto, an energitic teen. palio has wormed its way into my heart and my first car will be a palio or a zen (if i don get a palio).

I personally feel the Palio to be more solidly built than the Punto. But then the Punto has some really Oh so nice creature comforts!

Btw, the rear wiper seems a bit misaligned. Did you get it sorted out.?

Happy and Safe Motoring. Have Fun.
Thank you!
I don't know if the rear wiper is mis-aligned, it works fine in heaviest of rains actually.

Thanks Arun! The condition is all thanks to the previous owner.

Thanks Hillram. Another addition to the FIAT family.

Both the Headlamps are close to 5 years old. One of them was changed almost 5 years back.

But yes, the vapour in headlamp does happen sometimes.

My 5 cents from owning 1.2NV Sport since last 3plus years. I never had to regret about my choice. It still gives good road presence when compared to most of the other hatches. Only worry is the fuel efficieny which is nothing better than a sedan (10~12Kmpl in City and 14~16Kmpl in highway with AC).

1) Always get the car serviced by FIAT experts only (No road side garages please)
2) Its better to replace a faulty spare without waiting till the car puts a hardstop (You might end up spending double)
3) Try not to allow others to drive your car, driving style matters a lot in long run in terms of wear and tear.
4) Respect the age of car when it gives some minor troubles and get her some good treatment (saw many people cursing FIAT when a 5 year old rubber belt gives up etc )
5) Never compromise for a cheap aftermarket part unless its some cosmetic parts (strictly no cheap mechanical parts)

Wishing you a happy and safe journey ahead!
Thanks jacs, I will definitely keep these in mind.

Nothing better than Palio for VFM deals. However, 2.1L looks too high for a 5 year old Palio! Market value should not be more than 1.5L to 1.7L!
I know there are/were cheaper Palio's in the market, but I paid the extra amount for the 20K kms on the odo and love & care showered on it over the past 5 years.

Very true and this exact thought it echoed by quite a few people.

Thank you recshenoy. I've not changed the registration as I don't intend on being in Bangalore permanently.

Will do that once I have the ICE setup and seat covers done up.

I forgot to update in my first post that I upgraded the headlight bulbs the moment I laid my hands on the car. It now runs a 85W Narva White Lo Beam and a 100W Narva yellow Hi Beam along with ceramic holders and a dual headlamp relay.

Congrats praful for you Silver Surfer. Pristine car, I muat say. That Punto/Palio snap in B&W brings out the clout of the Italian designers.
PS-How could a 1.2 petrol be badged as a sports version? Strange variant terminology.

The additions to this variant were:
1. Rear spoiler
2. 14 inch alloys
3. Stone guard (Not sure if its available in ELX)
4. Front fogs
5. I am not sure but I read few years back that Sport has some different suspension setup than ELX and EL. Not too sure though.
6. low profile (175/65) tyres (low compared to tits peers - ELX and EL)

But indeed the sport tag is something that suits GTX and S10 more than the 1.2

1 & 2. Right

3. ELX version has the stone guard.

4. Right.

5. Haven't heard about this.

6. Stock is 165/80

Had the tuned the same 1.2 for quicker response, it would have indeed been a "Sport". I heard the original lot of Palios were much quicker than the subsequent BS II / III ones....

Thanks Utopian! I think the Sport was meant just from a visual perspective and not anything to do with performance. India everything sells!

The handling even today is good to give some cars a run for their money. I had a lot fun in the ghats enroute to Goa.

Maybe Sport can be just for the handling.

The difference lies in the ECU and exhaust systems for the NV and Pre-NV models. Although they both produced the same power/torque figures, they way it was delivered is quite different. Hence the Pre-NV models are more of a drivers car and the NV ones are more fuel efficient..

A picture from my end...

@Praful : Congrats on the Palio buddy! Good buy.

And yes, the rear wiper IS mis-aligned. It should rest a little higher on the rear windscreen.

@praful - Congrats, mate! Palio is still a looker & your car looks to be in very good condition. This is what you call a "beautiful" choice

PS: Personally I like the looks of the old Palio better than Punto. Guys, its just my opinion, pl. don't flame me for this

Yes most of the cosmetic additions nothing in mechanics. It has a Sporty silver dials in the instrument cluster. Also powder coated silver door release and center console facia.
