re: 2010 Maruti Alto K10 : Review

Hello everyone,
I have a year old k10. The rear doors when shut create a rattle, and also do not shut as easily as the front ones. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

No rattles in my K10.

There can be two reasons -
. The catch has shifted keeping the door loose
. The door beading has shifted/deteriorated

Either of these are minor and can be easily rectified by any good independent garage.

Thanks a ton for the reply sir. This thing has been persistently present from day one of purchase. The Maruti guys never paid any attention saying it was a common problem with Altos and Wagon Rs. Will have to get it checked at some independent garage as suggested by you.

Seems rattles and Marutis are inseparable. Please keep us updated about whether the problem was solved.

If you drive regularly on bad roads, you cannot help having rattles :( my one year old Ritz is having rattles as well.

Best you can do is get a reliable mechanis and tighten all the plastic fittings. but with clamps, there is very little that you can really do. it might work the first few times but eventually it will rattle.

My K10 had it's first service yesterday. I'm not sure what Mandovi did but; it's a lot smoother since. Anyone know how much fuel is left when the warning comes up ? I gave up after doing 30km.

re: 2010 Maruti Alto K10 : Review

I would like to clean my K10's air filter since it's been running around dusty roads for a while now. Planning to do it by myself. Would really appreciate it if anyone with prior experience could give some inputs with respect to removing the filter. I unclipped the two holders on top of the box but the cover does not seem to come off. Thanks in advance.

After the fuel indiactor starts blinking there should be 5L left. The tank is 35L and I fill it after it has started blinking and depending upon the distance traveled there after I fill between 30L and 31L.

The normal criteria is that the vehicle should travel at its rated FE for around 100km after the reserve is indicated. 100km/20km/l = 5L

I end up filling 30/32L as well. 5L of reserve is very reasonable. On a related topic; I'm able to get 17.3kmpl from it. That's close to what Maruti claims it can. I'm impressed.

Thank you for your information Sir. I never drove my k10 in such a situation for more than 20 km fearing I would be stranded.

I have got 19+ with AC on the highway and some people in south have got 22+. So this car is capable of giving high FE if driven properly.

That said I get 10-12 in my normal driving - 1/2 km between stops, <250km/m.

re: 2010 Maruti Alto K10 : Review

Today I took delivery of a brick red Alto k10 VXI. I replaced my 3.5 year old Chevrolet spark LS LPG with it. When I drove from the dealership which was about 5 km away, I observed that the engine bay got heated a lot. This was not the experience with my earlier car. Is this normal? Is this because it is a new engine?

Hello bhpians,
The rear parcel tray has started making noise while moving over bumps. Any suggestions to fix the rattle?
Thanks in advance.

No sir, that was not the case with me. 5 km is nothing for the engine to get over heated. Besides yours is a brand new car.
