Pipercross filters are available for Polo/Fabia.

Kindly google N1 racing equipment.

I myself don't believe in these figures yet. The best I had achieved (measured by TF to TF method) on relaxed highway driving @ 80/Kmph with minimal overtaking is around 15 kmpl. But the usual city /highway mixed (75:25) average has always been around 11.5 to 12. That is a more realistic figure.

Don't expect anything more than 12 kmpl in city with A/C on. Without A/C it can go up to 13. Bumper to bumper traffic in peak summer can reduce the FE to 9.5 kmpl.

Thanks for the update Sadnabrina.

For a 1.6 ltr petrol engine, our driving conditions & quality of fuel, I'd take anything above 10kmpl with A/C on as bonus!

1) 57D7 (applied during 1st service)
2) 97T9 (applied during 1st service)
3) 97U2 (applied during 1st service) and
4) 48I8 (applied last Saturday after filter replacement)

The changes I have noticed after these are -
1) The power window auto roll down issue (for late entrants - the driver side power window will automatically roll down, while you try to close it, without presence of any obstructions) has never occured after the 1st service.
.
.
3) The "steering pull to one side" happened to me only twice in the last 16000 kms - has not happened after the 1st service.
.
.
Thanks for sharing the details.

Steering pull in my car has been more or less sorted out (took my car to the showroom twice for this, once they did something, no software update and once again after 1.5k kms of first attempt) and now I hardly feel any LHS pull and the car almost runs straight, unfortunately when car is not moving or engine turned off the steering wheel tends to tilt slightly towards left

Few queries -

Are these 04 software updates related to 1.6 only or 1.2 also

It would be great if the power window issue is resolved with these updates, because this is one issue which is very hard to replicate in front of the SA at dealership and all they do is check and come back with 'no problem found'

These are for all Polos. The latest ones comes factory installed with these updates OR get the updates done during PDI.

I cannot surely say that the PW issue is resolved, all I can say is that it has not reoccured .

That's strange. I have never got anything above 11kpl with my Polo 1.2 petrol in the city. That includes some bumper-to-bumper traffic. In fact, the only reason I didn't wait another 2 months for the 1.6(when it wasn't launched) was because I feared it would have a terribly low F.E. :(

FE depends in your driving and traffic conditions. Also how do you measure? Do you use tank full to tank full method? I always measure TF to TF.
The worst in absolute B2B traffic I have got is around 9.5 kmpl which is considerably lower than your B2B figures. I drive a lot on Highways. Recently I did a few long runs like between Kolkata and Vizag (900 km oneway). On Highways relaxed cruising around 100 kmph would give me figures of 14 to 15 kmpl. Thus my average FE is around 11.5. If your dirving does not involve any highways, then your figures should be low. But on 1.2 people claim to get above 12 kmpl in city.

My Polo 1.6 is 3-days old now!! Still in sort of discovery mode... Some discoveries so far...

Purchase experience --
It was okay, no complaints there! One thing I want to mention is - VW India website has mentioned about extended warranty and doesn't specify a model for that. And they say contact dealer for details. However, when I checked with dealer, he said it's only available for Passat and Jetta and NOT for Polo.

In the drivers' seat...
* Noticed that, by default, AC is on! Need to check with dealer if that's the way it's designed...
* The rubber floor mats offered with the car (OEM accessory) is really sub-standard. I didn't expect this for a car brand that boasts quality (and they attribute the long waiting queues to delay in manufacturing due to high-levels of rejection of locally sourced parts due to non-conformity to their quality standards!).

Accessories / Upgrades so far --
* Installed 3M CR sun films. It's good.
* Upgraded the tires to 195/60 R15 Michelin Primacy LC. They're really good. Ride comfort has improved and road noise reduced significantly compared to OEM Apollo Accelere's. (Heard that Michelin will soon launch 185/60 R15 - stock size tires).

Pending upgrades --
* Philips X-treme Power headlight bulbs
* Stanley Leather seats
* Hertz Speakers to replace stock ones

Congratulation. Have a safe driving experience.

The moment you switch the fan on, the AC is turned on. You turn the fan off the AC is switched off. This is by design. Thus you need to explicitly switch the AC off (a second after you switch the fan on) if you want only the fan. It takes a few days to get accustomed to this as most cars you need to switch the AC on explicitly after switching on the fan. However I find this useful as I rarely drive with only the fan on. I need only one switch to turn it on.

Any idea what these firmware upgrades are, or how urgent they are? I haven't gone to the dealer since I got the car.

I am not facing the window problem you mention.

I got the quote from my dealer (elite motors bangalore) that extended warranty is 7500 odd for polo 1.6. He also told me I can go for it anytime before 2 years or 50000km, but it would cost more.

The AC turns on by default at start-up only if the temperature nob is set to the coolest (that is max at 7 'o clock position). At any of the other positions, this does not happen and you can manually turn on the AC anytime.

1) 57D7
2) 97T9

The dealer mentioned that the latest patches/upgrades are applied during the PDI process. You might already be having them installed if your delivery happened after these were released.
No idea about the upgrades, however the service guy mentioned that 48I8 was to do with the power steering.

Correct. If the temperature knob is not set at the coldest position, the AC will not switch on automatically. They must have done a lot of due diligence and customer survey before arriving at such a feature.
