i like the Yeti - always have. somehow I m getting convinced the space is not really a constraint - its all in the mind in the end!
lets see.
anyway no hurry - am considering the Duster too so I really dont mind waiting a bit and chugging along with the Scorpio for another 6- 9 months or so perhaps.
cheers
Skoda Assure is basically a no-depreciation insurance. You additionally pay about Rs 15,000 over the normal insurance. I understand that should there be an accidental damage, one needs to pay only Rs 500 per incident, and car is fixed - no questions asked.

It is desirable because the depreciation on plastic parts, tires etc can be very high - as high as 50% the moment vehicle gets on road. One could make up to two claims each year under this scheme. Beyond that regular comprehensive insurance terms apply. I am no expert in insurance. This what was explained to me and this is what I gather from the insurance papers provided by Skoda.

Personally I feel it is a good idea to take this for the first 3-4 years, during the duration of Skoda-Shield. Skoda Shield provides for extended warranty, while Skoda Assure takes care of insurance claims arising out of accidents.

Could someone with more knowledge about insurance matters please comment.

good input. thanks!
would also like to know how the accumulated no claim bonus is adjusted if one wishes to transfer the existing insurance to Skoda Assure. is this allowed in the first place by Skoda? If yes, then what would the impact be?

Hi Pramod,
Just wanted to check with you if you had a chance to connect your Vag-com and check out some of the features which I mentioned on the previous page. I have also ordered my Ross-tech cable (should be here in next week), and will request some help from you on the coding and how to enable some of the features which you have already done. I got some details from the net - Briskoda, but some of the things which I am looking for are still missing.
Thanks!

Have not checked the engine parameters with VCDS, I preferrer to tweak things that would not impact engine characteristics, I would advise same to you, so let me know when you get your cable, then we may hunt in pair !

PS: the essential one is tire monitoring that I believe mine is first one all over because it need more that ABS setting

Hi Pramod,
Got my vagcom today from Rosstech directly. So far, have made these changes to my Yeti:
idle rpm increase to 850 from 775. This is available in engine controller 1 in adaptations. The first drop down in the bar is idle rpm offset. I entered a value of 70 to make the rpm 850. I feel the difference and now it does not stall in 2nd and 3rd gears. I also enabled Auto lock, single button unlock and staging. I will try cornering fogs and DRLs in afew days, as these are not activated on my Ambiente. Will also try some new things in a few days.
Drive safe!

Today washed the car myself found few small dents possibly by children playing with cycle may have hit and few very minute scratches on hood, after seeing all this thought to give a wax myself, at the day end roof is still not done! Very physical din't expected it to be so hard to do wax, nonetheless will try to get the roof done tomorrow, completely exhausted by the end used 3M wax hope they hold good and hide the tiny scratches for now. Been not able to use the car much and weather to is not helping the cause!
Did chikaldhara last Sunday and it was heaven, cloud all around you but as soon as I started the ascend the down pour started and it was scary to see all that nallas that got created with in minutes and he force by which the water was getting downstream, the best decision was to reverse and return home, but before I did that here are few snaps to enjoy!

Hi pramods,
Great to read about all the e-modifications and your ability to get the Yeti to 'vag' its tail !

2. Lovely snaps. Would have been great to have one with the Yeti in it.

1. By itself the wax may not hide the scratches. Get one of these and apply as instructed - very easy indeed:

...and then apply the wax. The results are brilliant.

There was an opportunity to get a snap of Yeti in cloud but son was not ready to stop there, this being his first experience of cloud he pressed us to enjoy it next time.

Thanks for scratch out suggestion, I hope they don't get the clear and paint out, need to look for this as well thinking of getting a 3M paint protection done on Yeti, if anybody has any suggestion of 3M paint protection and know dealer/service in Nagpur do let me know, doing wax ( as I did today) looks difficult to do even once in 2 month!

re: Skoda Yeti@ India (An ownership review) EDIT: Now sold!

An update the Hill Hold Control works! you have to press the break hard on a slope and it will hold the car after releasing the break, you can put the car in gear and can start off, the bad part it hold it so hard that it need a lot of gas to start else you stall, I stalled the car for 3 times, before getting away. I believe there is a setting in the ABS module to make it less sticky and allow the car to release the break with small accelerator input, will figure out later else need to adjust how much is good enough to start.

Yup, it works very well. Here it is useful as we often have to stop midway in a ramp in the parking in malls before we can exit and it always prevents the car from rolling back (no need to use the handbrake!). I have seen it holds for around 3 secs, and then releases the hill hold.
Any luck on better tyres for your monster? I find the Goodyear tyres really bad and am desperately searching for an upgrade with good AT/ HT tyres.

re: Skoda Yeti@ India (An ownership review) EDIT: Now sold!

Hey pramod,
I have 2011 laura elegance automatic. Would i be right to assume the just changing the light switch to one with 'auto' will get my coming home and leaving home functions to work?
I currently have activated coming home lights but it needs to be done manually by pulling the light switch once before turning the ignition off. How can i find out if the wiring is already in place for the new switch to work?

Now its back to square one.
Elegance version no discounts except some sort of 35 grand corporate discount.
then there may be a saving on the Insurance premium if I carry over my no claim bonus.
But there is the 72grand Skoda Shield - 4 years 100,000 km warranty to be considered. All in all the Elegance comes to 21.05 lacs on road bangalore. Say one knocks off 35 grand discount plus a saving of another 25000 on insurance, the price will still hit 20.65 lacs on road.
One has to pay up around 7.5 lacs down payment and the rest of it via some sort of loan. Of course if one wants one can pay more as down payment.
The EMI comes to about 28 grand per month over 5 years on reducing balance..

The OTR price of the Yeti in Delhi is less than in Bangalore but I am being quoted an EMI of 48-50K for the Ambience (with Skoda Shield) by my company's leasing company. Is this possible?

re: Skoda Yeti@ India (An ownership review) EDIT: Now sold!

Ofcourse it is possible. Depends on period of lease, interest rate and what not. 48-50K looks about right for a 3 yr lease i think.
