Default Re: A poor man's BMW - Fiesta 1.6 S (2500 kms report)

Awesome write up there mate! and yes, its a driver's car and a hoot to drive around.. very tough to keep the rpm meter below 2500!

One question here for all Fiesta 1.6 owners, is there any way i can get better mileage figures out of my 1.6SXI? i tried keeping rpm below 2500, but then the max i got was 8.5kmpl! Something wrong?

Maybe its the fuel, try changing the petrol pump for starters. Do you drive with correct gear shifting coz too much gear shifting also affects mileage.

hey Fiesta enthusiasts,
My Fiesta S has just completed 5 years. I dont get much time to drive it these days.
It has just run 38,000 km and is in superb condition.
Do you recommend I sell it or keep it ?

Depends on quite a lot of factors actually!

- What is the use of selling? Looking at a bigger car for replacement ?
- Are there any issues with the car?
- Is there a second car that is making it useless / used less?

I don't intend to sell my Fiesta 1.6 S ever, as it is very rare to come across a well maintained 1.6 S these days. I love it far too much to sell it.

If you were based at Hyderabad, I'd have immediately suggested that you sell it.........to me!! I'd have loved to replace my 12 year old Waggie with it, though I already have a 1.6 duratec in my garage with the sxi hood.

As regards your question, please retain it. It's a classic car. Period!

38000 kms in 5 years is quite a decent driving for a petrol car! Unless you have a reason to sell this car, I suggest you keep it. 5 years should hardly be a reason to sell a well maintained, rare enthusiast car. Once you let go of it, you may never find one which you love to drive.

Thanks guys for your rather prompt response on this topic.
The car is in immaculate condition and has been supremely reliable till date.
The engine and gearbox are certainly a dream combo.
The real issue is that I cant use the car for work. The office provided car with driver ensure that. Also, my work doesnt give me the leisure hours to drive the Fiesta S.
Hence the situation.
I am loath to even think of selling the gem to an uncaring buyer.
Any more views ?

Hey do you still have this car? Let me know if you want to sell it.

BTW do you feel any difference in engine between 1.6S and regular 1.6?
