Looks like that the Horn has gone bad again, it's the low tone piece which is not working since last two days! May be it is because of rain water entering the horn?

Now it's still 3-4 months before next service and I hope the horn will be again replaced under warranty. Venus will turn two year old in October and servicing will be not done before December/January!

PS - My City comes with 2+2 years warranty.

Reached one more mile stone of 40K 10 days back in 2 years 1 months. Its a major service, total cost around 9.1K
Currently clocking 41.7K.

Journey has been totally problem free (apart from horn replacement in warranty, but not a blocker), Kudos to Honda reliability

The Horn is installed just behind the lower front grill, in front of A/C condenser (visible). Water can easily enter while washing, driving through flooded roads etc. I am not sure if horn is not working due to water issue, I am just guessing.

Hi Abhijit, Long time no see!

Congrats on reaching 40K mark on your Honda City.

You seems to be crunching lots of miles with your car, keep it up and enjoy.

Can you mention more about the 40K service including cost break up etc?

@bluevolt
Can please tell me whats the normal idle rpm speed of the city?? i have a 1 week old city and when i start the car the rpm needle rises to about 1500 rpm and slowly settles at a point between 1000 to 1500 rpm. Is this normal or should i get it checked??

Thanks alot!

Let me answer this one

Does your car's Idle rpm stays above 1k mark, even after reaching it's optimum temperature ?, If yes then get it checked.

As, Idle RPM on cold start should be around 1200-1300 and when car reaches it's optimum temperature it should settle around 800-900.

I suggest you to get it checked.

P.S My 400th post

It's Normal.

During cold starts the engine RPM touches around 1.3 to 1.5K for few seconds and then it idles around 900-1000RPM when engine reaches optimal operating temperature.

So it's nothing serious but you can still get it checked during service.

EDIT - you can check this startup video I posted some times back, in the video you can see that engine RPM reaches 1.5K and settles to 0.9-1K RPM immediately as the engine was warm.

Thanks alot but looking at the video posted by bluevolt sir i dont think my car follows that pattern, even after a 40km trip if i restart the car at the end of the journey the idle rpm hovers a notch above 1000 rpm, i tried waiting once for about 5 min and still it did not touch the 1000 mark, let alone the come below it. I guess i will get it checked.

sorry for hijacking your thread!

Your car is new(under running in period) that's why the idling is little higher. Don't worry, when you go for first service just ask the service people to check the idling and they will correct it if it is not normal.

Till then enjoy the City!

Mate , I had a similar experience with my Swift . I wrapped up the horn in thin plastic ( you know the ones which are used for wrapping food ) which saved it from conking out . The horn placement in the Swift was also in a similar place and got conked out pretty frequently with the Mumbai rains + broken roads acting in tandem .
Your Venus photoshoots are happening more infrequently nowadays , get the camera out

Yup that's a good point. I will ask them to re-position the horn or else cover it by some plastic cover.

City has dual horns, one unit is hidden while other one is exposed.

I was just wondering whether it is possible to fit a LPG kit in the city. An AT city with a LPG kit would be a ideal combination.

AFAIK Honda clearly opposes fitment of any type of kits on their cars. In some cases I have heard that they even refuse to service cars with LPG or CNG kits.

an acquaintance of mine has got CNG kit installed in his city in Delhi. His daily commute to his factory is more than 100km and he has been using the City for years now. He has the NHC Gxi.
