They did a very good job & the fitting is perfect.
Cost of repair - Rs. 850/-. They also removed some scratches on the side by buffing.
What is buffing? Has it got anything to do with heat treatment with a bulb? If not, what material is used?

No no, buffing is just what they do to remove minor scratches from the paint.

Raj, my experience with the Palio Stile MJD is that you nurse the Multijet Diesel carefully through the running-in and it gives its best in terms of performance and FE only after 20,000 km or so. My best FE started coming after the 20,000 km mark.

With the 75 HP MJD, I get 15-17 kpl with AC and 18-21 kpl without AC in fairly heavy traffic in Delhi. The 90 HP has similar ARAI figures to the 75 HP (and the Punto has better ARAI FE figures than the Palio too)

I avoid that. They remove the scratches by taking off a thin layer of clearcoat. I don't like. If done too much they can take a bit of paint off too.

In the black and white colour scheme of your car, the chrome door handles look completely out of place on your car. Even the standard plain white ones would have looked better.

I agree. But for that simple scratch, i was asked to shell out 6k. In mumbai, your car does end up with a lot of scratches, painting it everytime would turn out to be an expensive affair!

I agree. They are a total mismatch. Sadly they came standard with the car. Maybe FIAT took India's obsession with chrome too seriously.

Today, a BHPian & a good friend of mine drove my Pintu. This is the first time he took my car out on the highway. He loved it, infact loved it so much that he kept asking me that he wanted to drive the car! Infact, now he says he want to buy a Punto, even if its the 75 hp version!

He was a big fan of the i20 CRDi citing the good A.S.S. & superior performance as reasons but after driving my Pintu, he has changed his opinion! Now he says, to heck with poor A.S.S., this car is a joy. After driving, he stepped out & was checking Pintu from all corners. I could see disbelief & happiness in his eyes! Maybe he dint expect this from a Punto... This is what I call the "FIAT" effect!

Add one more to the list of bhp-ians who wasn't considering the Punto due to bad A** and poor plastics but all i had to say was "Poor plastics and A** be damned, this car rocks!" after my 90hp TD was over.

For pure city commuting which one would you recommend a 75hp or a 90hp one ?

For pure city commute, 75 bhp it is. but if budget is not an issue, why not just buy the 90 hp?

Budget is not an issue, just want to know if the 90hp is any better in terms of driveability within the city? Haven't taken a TD of the 75 hp yet

I fully agree. Guys need to drive and then comment.

A friend of mine who has been driving a Swift VDI for nearly 4yrs was always cribbing as to why I had bought an Punto. The day he drove my car (Punto 90HP) he has realised why and always want to drive when we are together.

Hi raj,
You have a great ride there . One that people love to hate. I'll be glad if you could answer some queries for me:
1. What is the top speed that you have achieved?
2. Is there a constant boom sound when travelling at high speed? I noticed it in the 75HP one and couldn't figure out the problem. Maybe it's the tyres!
3. When you say the car is slow, what are you comparing it with? How would you rate it in comparison with other Multijet's on sale.

I have booked a New Swift ZDi and these questions would be helpful in my head vs. heart battle!
