Maximum torque of 327NM is yours at 2600RPM and 150PS is extracted at 4000RPM. As you rightly said, revving it to redline is absolutely not required.

In my 12,000kms of drive out of which 60% was on highways. I never went above 3.5K RPM whereas, there was a lot more scope to revv as we all know diesels redline at 4.5K RPM

Some of the speed and rpm figures that I noted ( could be slightly wrong) and all are in 5th gear. Do make a note of below figures during your weekend drive and correct me if iam wrong.

120kmph : 2000rpm

150kmph : 2400rpm

170kmph : 2800rpm

So you see, you have to be in shorter gears to achieve a redline of 4500RPM.

Hmm, what were your limits during your runin period then? I was thinking <3k rpm - but looks like I will be hitting speed limits there itself! Is it a bad idea to rev to 3k?

My simple advice would be to stick to maximum of 2500rpm and an occasional burst to 3000rpm but, not more for sure. Atleast till you finish your run-in period.

Initial 2000kms, I was particular not to cross 2500rpm.

The relation between speed and rpm is linear.

120 kmph: 2000 rpm
150 kmph: 2500 rpm
168 kmph: 2800 rpm

This was approx the numbers - I did rev up once to 185 or so - that was around 3k rpm.

@SubuS - Congrats on your new diesel rocket. Great car!

I guess your Cruze is the only one right now on TBHP with the new Jet black interiors. Could you please post some interior pictures of your car?

Dear Subu

Really love your car. Amazing modifications.

We are considering getting a Cruze for the family, I must say you have convinced me to go for the white colour.

Could you kindly help and put up your experience with the bluetooth operation and related functions in the Cruze?

Both the Dealers in Hyderabad do not have a clue as to how this works and I did try fiddling with a car which was about to be delivered. But I could not guage how good or bad the bluetooth pairing, music streaming functions are.

I suppose your's being the only 2011 Cruze, requesting your inputs.

@laxman - congrats on the decision - you are not going to regret it. I have not really touched the bluetooth - I have a dedicated iPod with songs in the car, and generally don't take calls while driving. So sorry about that.

Simple suggestion is to never keep a constant RPM during the initial 5k-10K kms. City driving is the best as we often keep varying our engine speed.

Highway driving is where one can set the engine even finer by doing higher rpm at higher gears. Like driving between 100-140 in a wave pattern.

Spotted your Cruze at Adyar just half an hour back. Your car pulled away clean, but man, was it belching out thick black smoke!

Unfortunately, Cruze just like any other diesel car ( including a beemer) belches out smoke under hard accelaration
