10-11-2011: 0900 AM: Last day in Siem Reap and flight to Bangkok and Home.

Check out of our beautiful Thenai Guest House and Mr.Chenna. The bill was nominal and as per agreement:

Footloose in VAMBODIA (Vietnam + Cambodia)-dsc04811.jpg</a><br /> <br /> <a href=Footloose in VAMBODIA (Vietnam + Cambodia)-dsc04812.jpg</a><br /> <br /> <br />
Well, there is where the story ends, the last day. We decided to make the most of it by seeing the War Museum and skip the cultural village. Kui said, village would take all of 3 hours, time which we don’t have, out flight out at 0130 PM, need to report at 1130, can’t take chances, no way.<br /> <br /> <br /> <a rel=http://cambodianculturalvillage.com/

Kui said we would like the war museum which can be finished in 1-2 hours.

http://www.phnompenhtours.com/warmuseum.htm

We got a guide who was a soldier and had lost a leg, had also bullet wounds on his back and shrapnel in his chest, he said he’d give us 1 one hour for 5$, we said OK. He was good in his explanations and well worth the money. Most equipment were Russian, the place was overgrown, those who are war historians would love the place. For us this was a sad reminder of the destructive power we wield to kill each other, the engineering and mechanical part of the whole was very appealing to me.

See the snaps for yourself:

Thanks Jignesh.

I am leaving for a 3 week holiday tomorrow night to a quixotic place... so near, yet so far and pretty exciting place. Will post the log soon as I come back.

Interestingly, this year Travel Agents have increased traffic to Vietnam as the government has decided to promote tourism in a big way, those interested can check with their Agents.

Hello Ramkya,

We visited Phnom Penh and Siam Reap from the 15th - 20th Feb 2013. ]
This trip was especially for my mother who likes historical places.
I actually printed out your travelogue in a booklet form and used it as my guide book . Incidentally we also stayed at Eureka Villa in Phnom Penh.

At the end of the guided tour we took at Angkor Wat, I was going through the booklet to see if the guide had missed detailing anything to us. When the page with this puppy flipped, the guide immediately stopped me and turned back the page. The puppy incidentally was his wife's but got stolen. His wife sells breakfast to the early morning visitors and it seems was very attached to this puppy. He had a story to tell too. Some white couple it seems, offered him 600 dollars for the puppy but his wife did not sell him and then a few days later he was stolen.

My sincere thanks to your splendid travelogue. It literally made my planning a breeze.

I am looking forward to more travelogues from you, hopefully I will use them too..

A parting snap with the guide at Angkor Wat.

Fantaboyus,

That's very gratifying. You know how much time and energy goes behind a T -Log, the main purpose is to inform people about what is possible so that they don't have to re-invent the wheel. Your actions and account encourages me and others to be more careful and factual about T-logs as it would be followed up, like you did.

Eureka Villa is ideally placed for the visits and nicely priced. Happy that you enjoyed.

You spent 5-6 days in Siam Rap, did you do the trek to the 1000 Linga waterfall?
