Default Tokyo, Osaka July 2011

I was in Japan in July this year. I visited Tokyo, Osaka and a couple of sub-urban towns.

I clicked a lot of pictures during my visit. I so wanted to document my travels on this forum but could not because of one reason or the other.

Finally, I have decided to post the photographs of the trips. Let it be a photologue. This is a collection of pics which I liked the most from the trip.

Hope fellow Bhpians like this photologue.

Thanks a lot mayankk.

The purpose of the trip was business. It was a ten days visit. I was alone and the total expense was around 2.5 Lacs.

Hi rudder,

That's a fantastic photologue. Just loved to see the other side of Japan. Always thought, Japan being a small island nation, would be full of people everywhere - on roads, trains, countryside, etc. But the photos you shared, present a very different side of Japan.

Surprising to see roads this silent and empty, even at noon! Are these from Tokyo, Osaka or some other place?

Do post more pics if you have.

Fantastic pics! Looks like India but cleannnnnn.
1.Did you try the shinkasen super fast super punctual train?
2. Is it that everything is written in Japanese or is there english anywhere?
3. What about the people? I have heard that japanese are very down to earth and soft spoken, is it true?
4. Do they speak only japanese or one can manage with english?Especially with taxi and public transport system?

Konichiwa rudder san !

Nice snaps there. So clean and beautiful.
As sankalp said : where are the people ?
Please do continue.

They have 7-11 there too !? We Indians are everywhere

@sajan : I've seen the cube parked near my apartment in NY.
It's quite intriguing (personally, I find it a bit radical, really looks
like a potato cut into a cube)

Thanks for your kind comments!! Glad that you liked the pics.

Yes the roads and streets were empty. The reason I believe is that there was a cyclone warning in Tokyo/Osaka during the days of my visit. Add to it, the Fukushima nuclear plant was still leaking radiations.

I'll certainly post more pics shortly.

Thanks for your comments AlphaKilo.
1. Yes I tried the Shinkansen. I took the shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagoya, from Nagoya to Osaka and finally from Osaka to Tokyo. The experience is awesome. You are pushed to the seat when it takes of.
2. In Tokyo, there is no problem with respect to language. Everythin is in Japanese as well as English. But yes, in the outskirts like in Gifu City, Nagoya and even in Osaka, you may face some problem with respect to language;
3. Absolutely!! Japanese are extremely humble and down to earth. But they are highly impressed by Indians. One reason for that is that their major religion is Budhism.
4. Language is an issue. Taxi drivers do understand Engish but they cannot speak English. It is advisable to carry a map and the destination address in Japanese and well as English language. Japan is an extremely organised country. If the taxi drivers do not understand the address, just make them enter the pin code of your destination in their GPRS device. The route will appear on their device!!
