Amazing pics of the Tiger. Your friend was one lucky guy!!

The blue-brown bird is the Indian Roller

The owl, I think, is the Brown Fish owl again. Not sure - have only heard these guys

Lucky guy indeed. They spotted the tigress the previous evening safari in low light and the tigress and cubs the next day morning.

Damn it why did not I go a day before for the safari.

NKP, you are a lucky guy to have seen a leopard with a kill that too on the Govt Safari. Do you get a guide in these safaris? I thought only JLR safaris had guides/naturalists.

It is indeed the Indian Roller. Also called the 'Blue Jay', this is the state bird of Karnataka.

I was not on the Govt Safari vehicle. Most of the drivers of these jeeps dont bother to share their experience in either spotting the animals/birds or share their experiences.

There was a naturalist who accompanied us on one of these safari's. He is simply a treasure house of information.
