There were other eateries too. I remember couple of places more. There was Hotel Sea Gull on SS Koil Street, Thampanoor, which was a bid to that day standards and opposite to that there was a small hote which was fondly known as Little Sea Gull famous for dosas of the "thattu kada" kind (I n Malayalam meaning the way side sort of fast food joints).
Then, at Pazhavangadi near the Ganapathy Temple there was a hotel with a coconut tree growing right in the middle and the place was known as "Thengu vachha kada" (Shop with a coconut tree)which was open well past midnight even in those days.
At Pulimoodu, there was a hotel in a narrow ally between two buildings opening only at night selling dosas, omlettes and pappads. This was run by two shorter aged twins each called as "ara mundan" (meaning half dwarf)- (No disrespect meant and is used with respect for the best food served with smile)
Those joints are now only part of Trivandrum folklore only. The greatness of Trivandrum of those days is that every one used to know everybody else of this sleepy capital city.
During my working days in Trivandrum, we used to go to a place called Nikunjam for egg biriyanis for lunch. Also a place called kalavara behind Modern book house...

Memories

Yes Nikunjam at Vazhuthakkad, a place frequented by the late award winning film director Shri Aravindan and other eminent film and literary personalities. The building was of the Laurie Baker school style of architecture. One of my friend later started a fast food hang up near that.
It is to be remembered that Trivandrum pioneered the fast food culture in Kerala.

Hey Lalu is there a way to reach this Resort from Neendakara side. At least Google maps show the only road is from the Chavara side.

Yes, there is a road which leads you to this resort from the NH near Neendakara. Infact that is the easiest and no confusion route to this place.

Yes, I still remember Kalavara. During my stay in Trivandrum, I used to visit Kalavara and loved to have the non-veg there (they had good pork dish). Also of interest was the mobile thattu (we used to call it vandi-thattu) which used to station at different locations in the city. I was staying at Vellayambalam for about 8 months during 1997-98. That time, we were young and used to roam around the city in a bicycle at night. Thinking of it now, send shivers down my spine.

Seems I have stimulated everybody's taste buds

There were these thattukadas at Vellayambalam Junction, and the mobile fast foods near Statue just near the Trivandrum Hotel.
