Cool Bangalore to Jannat, Swarga, Heaven

Preview of the place we visited (Pics taken in 2011-12).

* Note that the place requires special permission from KPCC (Karnataka power corporation) and i cannot disclose the exact location of the place(we got permission for it as my friends dad is the authority in-charge of this location ). So please do not curse me after viewing the place and pics.

Bangalore to Jannat, Swarga, Heaven-882207_492872247428577_555783351_o.jpg

It all started over a cup of coffee during a night drive on old Madras road with a few friends and Team Bhp members Raj.Barcode, _Chikku, Varsharks, we decided it’s been quite a while since we had an outstation trip together and were looking for a secluded place for some peace of mind away from hustle and bustle of Bangalore. Just then I remembered a place near Shimoga that one of my friends had taken me last time around on his bike. It was just a wonderful, silent place near a lake/reservoir that everyone tentatively agreed to. I had taken a couple of pics with my crummy Sony phone camera when I visited it last time (Above pics). I told them I would post pics of it on FB as I did not carry the phone that day. We all returned back to our daily chores and it was a full 3 days before I could spare some time to post the pics on FB. Once I posted the pics everyone loved the pics but _Chikku and Varsharks had to drop out due to personal reasons. So that left just myself and raj.barcode so we decided that we would visit the place over the coming weekend. The road strictly required a 4X4 to reach the designated place or a bike. Since both of us are no bikers we decided to take raj.barcode’s new Thar CRDE 4X4. I was itching to have a ride in it since he bought it and i finally got an opportunity to drive it. So we decided to depart from Bangalore at 2AM in the morning to avoid the traffic on Tumkur road and the extreme heat in Bangalore.

I will let the pics do the talking from now on as I am not a very good writer and am quite bored of typing right now .

Thanks for the invite and the travel was well worth after experiencing such a wonderful place, the silence and calm waters were really a pleasure, itching to go again and camp/relax for a couple of days away from the busy lifestyle

Thanks for posting the pics!

I believe I know the place. However unable to guess the exact location though, as its been quite a long time I have visited these places (atleast 12+ years).
My dad used to take us around all these places. He used to work with KPC (now retired)

Personally, I feel that there's no point in writing a travelogue if you cannot disclose the place. How will this help the community? What is the intention of showing people a nice place, and then bringing in exclusivity? Please don't get me wrong.

The reason why i shared the travelogue is to show people of such beautiful places in and around Karnataka not spoilt by commercialization which are not easily accessible to everyone. I have mentioned the district/Taluk in which this is located Shivamogga.

The exclusivity is not created by me, but the government who have a rule regarding photography in such places where power generation is done. The only reason we were allowed to visit and photograph the beauty around such a place is because my friends dad is the person in-charge of the location and we received permission to do so under instruction to avoid revealing the location and details of the Dam and power station nearby.

Hence being a good Samaritan i would prefer not to disclose the exact location over a public forum and so have not posted any pics with the details of the dam and power station.

No offence taken.

Hi rocky080, the photos are amazing. I absolutely appreciate that you have not disclosed the location, and that is how it should be, since that was your understanding with the people concerned.

My only objection was, this travelogue does not benefit me (and more importantly, the community) at all. What do we gain now, other than the fact that we now "know" that such places exist? I'm sure we already know such a fact. I agree that you mentioned Shivamogga, but if it was intended as a hint, it is still a huge area to narrow down to. If nobody else is able to visit such a place, it is ok, but it is not fair to publicize it.

Anyway, sorry again. Last post from my side.

If you are really interested in finding out the location, there are many clues in the pictures itself.

In my defense, i have shared pics of the place not easily accessible to everyone to be enjoyed through my pics and as skyline GT-R has said there is a sequence (Clues) in the pics of the places i have posted in the first two posts to ascertain the approximate location of the place. If you still do not get it, let me know i will PM you the details.. Hope this helps.

Beautiful pictures guys!
Nice place to go to with the jeep
Those alloys look wicked! Are those Hellas up front?

Did you guys happen to click any offroading clicks?
And how did the jeep perform in the water? (There was a picture mentioning checking depth of water)

Thanks for sharing!

Cheers!

Hey Sam,

Regarding the light, i think raj.barcode can fill in the details.

Regarding the offroading pics, unfortunately we were sitting inside the jeep to take any pics of the water fording, as we were worried whether the jeep would stall if we stopped once it entered the water(As can be seen no snorkel installed and only one jeep in a secluded place), from passenger perspective the jeep performed very well in knee deep water. Raj.barcode can give more details of its performance and its behaviour in the water.

Regards,
Rocky
