Hi ghodlur:

1. On behalf of the team - thank you very much for the kind words of appreciation.
2. You are absolutely right - the sight truly stirs the soul. Warms the cockles of one's heart. Quite a sight on the highways and equally on small winding back of the beyond roads. Just two Fortuners driving together gets plenty of eyeballs with people gesticulating and pointing and so six and seven at a time really is a sight.
3. Could be a little difficult this time - keeping in mind the fact that the Panzertruppen has dispersed after the field exercises, to their base locations in Pune, Aurangabad etc. May be one or two may join the meet on Sunday.
But we'll try and time one of the field maneuvers of the Panzertruppen around a TBHP meet in future.

Just imagine man.. What if one of those scary godzilla-like deer had upturned your rides with their antlers?
Thank you Carb.
Sometimes even the most rational of human beings also take unncessary risks.
We were very careful of those antlers and didn't let our attention waver - ever. The deer however could smell our fear.
Yeah the Amazon break sounds very exciting - just the thing the doctor ordered for us to recover from the immense strain of having driven to and in the deer park ! Thank you for the timely suggestion.

How could the Admiral be a part of the famed Panzzertruppen? That was a field regiment and amongst them a yo-yo boat from the yellow-land?

The only boats the Germans had were the U-boats.

OT:
Mein Herr Walru...sorry... gd1418, As you'll recall from history books there are times during conflicts, and peace time too, when senior officers from a wing/service of armed forces of a country are deputed to another country's armed forces (esp between allies) for training, liaison work, attache duties, observer/strategic alliance duties etc. Admiral was on deputation to the Panzertruppen for the last field exercises, in a confidential role.
You will recollect that Admiral Togo H studied naval science in England as an Apprentice on deputation from 1871 to 78 and had also served on training ship HMS Worcester.

Hi mallumowgli, Thank you. When we enquired about other species in the park we were told not be harebrained and just be content with the existing flora and fauna. We didn't spot a single Mowgli in the jungle either.

I seriously protest and very seriously at that. I sport a handlebar not walrus styled.

1. I am glad we are talking about wildlife still - Walruses and whatnot in the interest of ecology.

I have a protest on two counts here. And a rather vehement one at that:

1. My mustache style as per the American Mustache Institute (http://www.americanmustacheinstitute.org/) is the ACWMMC - M: American Civil War Modified Mutton Chops - Minor and not, repeat not, the walrus type.

2. Calling gd1418 - 'the small troll in between' !
May please expunge this 'name calling' from the records of this travelogue.

And now we get back to the topic - strictly and I apologise to other readers of the thread for the deviation from the topic of the travelogue.

S01D02 (Season 01 Drive 02) - Silvassa

Now that everything is fine @ hospital - completing the most important part of being a part of a TL - posting our own captures !

There was a slight change in my plans, I was supposed to drive to the said and debated site directly and was to drive back with the team to BOM. Changes had to happen as Dad's Neurosurgeon was free and wanted to get Dad's surgery done the very next week itself.

I drove Mumbai on Saturday - drove with the group to site and then pushed off to Aurangabad. Reached home @ 1800 hrs and was back on highway to Mumbai @ 2000 HRS. Reached Mumbai @ 0400 HRS.

Total distance clocked - was approx 1628 KMS. Milage gained was 12.5 overall.

Here is my share - I have tried to bring life in my snaps - @ 0120 HRS - cant get much sleep and hope you like the same.

Hi Ahmed,
Glad that all is well with your Dad and wishing him a speedy recovery.

And as predicted - the best was reserved for the last ! Super snaps my friend - truly capturing the essense of the drive and the inherent dangers in the park. Fabulous indeed.

Hi Ahmed,

Good to know that all is well at the home front.

Lovely pics. Must say, you've captured the action as it was unfolding!

So Harry, you finally managed to evict those "dangerous & menacing" wildlife and 'captured' the place for yourself & the team?

Firstly a few corrections from the first post on this thread.

1. That should have read as "was".
2. That should have read as "there". Thank you very much Aveoman19 for having PMed and pointed out all things from here to there ! Appreciate the same and feels good.

Hi BCG,

1. No comments - except that nothing was done to disturb the denizens of the park (AKA Fearsome Deer) or the fragile ecology of the place.
2. No comments - except to state that no one in the group had a Walrus-sian mustache as mentioned in one of the earlier posts. The same is correctly titled as ACWMMC-M.

3. Sure will check out that folding table and get you the details after speaking to our team member bhp.

Such tables (and folding chairs, tents, Coleman stoves etc.) are available at Decathlon. There is one 2 kms from my house, and I buy many things from there. I believe they have also started their ecommerce operations, so items can be delivered to your doorstep.

If I may:

One could get that kind of folding table set at Decathalon Thane - Big Mall above Hypercity - Ghodbunder Rd.

Guderian it is relatively close for you so if you have not already been there to check it out am sure you will find it quite interesting.

www.decathlon.in

They also have a lot of Hiking, Camping gear like tents, sleeping bags, equipments, shoes and clothes for different kinds of terrain and sports.

Just noticed a similar reply by nilanjanray - 1 kms from home in thane as well. But the requirement seems to be from Gurgaon - pls look up on their site for the closest store - they do ship across india but shipping costs are high for larger items except in Bangalore.

Pricked up the Rockrider 5.3 bike and gear from there for myself and wifee plus some stuff for my kiddo. He loves it there.
