Day 04
14th April 2013
Masinagudi

The coracle ride was fun. It costed us 50 per head for the ride and if the coracle man had to wait for us to have bath in the falls it would have been 100 per head. It was fun just floating around!

This guy was watching the fun!

Well i have gone to all these places you mentioned over here, but your way of representing with the awesome photographs changed my whole perspective on these places. I wish to do all these once again the way you did!
Between nice to see stairs have been made at Barachukki till all the way down. When i last visited Barachukki stairs were not there we had to go down and climb up by a rough steep path.

Lalu-ji,

Beautiful photogrpahs and very nice write up. Kudos.
Inspired by your thread, I finalised Masinagudi for quick three day's get away. I shall drive down along with my family. One question about the route you have taken: are there decent options for breakfast or snacks along this route?

Cheers
Pratim

Can it be the other way ?
But still; to me the one that beats all, is your Kaas log. Nothing comes to close to that.

.

There was another Kaas drive done the next year, the year which I finished the log, which then went on to Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani, and then on return took us to Hampi... Yet to be written. It's already 2 years now. Some day!

Thanks Lalu-ji, Ampere.

Even decent dosa/idli joints are not available in towns like Kanakapura/Mavallipura, Kollegal? These will do for breakfast. Are there anything on Kanakapura Main Road, after, say the NICE road departure? Sorry, if I am pressing you guys too much.

Cheers

Great Travelogue,Thanks Laluks. After reading this travelogue I was inspired and traveled last weekend to Masinagudi. It was pouring down for few hours on Saturday. May be signs of arrival of monsoon. Stayed in Safari Land Resort - a Resort that must be avoided. Had great weekend otherwise.

Just after NICE, I remember seeing some joints. Never tried them. Else I am sure at Kanakapura there would be some. I once had a chai break there opposite to some Tahsildar/Sub Registrar office.

Wow. You have been there already! Rains would have made the place refreshing, and not to say the feeling you get from the smell of wet mud from the first rains.

Some resorts are there just to spoil the entire fun, they just exist because of the location!

@Pratim,

- There is Gokul in Kanakpura but he opens only for lunch
- There is an Udupi upahar which would be open. Its decent, but dont count it in the league of Kamats.
- Also not Kanakpura is about 30km from Bangalore. It arrives too soon. But once you cross, you dont find any other place too !
- Also as a Lalu said, even I have seen some places immediately after NICE. But again they arrive too soon.
- Kollegal may have small shops.
