Default Travelogue: Bangalore -> Valparai

Folks,

I finally got some time to pen down the travalogue on a trip that we did to Valparai in May this year.

After gathering inputs from the related threads in the forum (thanks to all who helped providing vital info) I booked Sinnadorai's Bunglow (TBHP's favorite room) for a 3 nights stay after working out on various offers/discounts with Ms. Sujatha.

Onward Journey:

Planned: Bangalore-Salem-Perundurai-Kangeyam-Palladam-Pollachi - Valparai
Actual: Bangalore-Salem-Perundurai-Tiruppur-Palladam-Pollachi-Valparai

Started from BLR (Marathhalli) at 5.00AM and reached Saravana Bhavan near Sankari toll gate around 8:45AM.We spent around 45 Minutes enjoying delicious breakfast and started again at 9:30AM. After passing Sankari toll gate, we somehow missed the Kangeyam route and instead headed straight on the highway leading us to do Tiruppur-Pollachi. Due to this, we had to face lot of deviations and 1-ways after entering Tiruppur due to construction work. Luckily, there was not much traffic in Pollachi and also we were able to find our way towards Valparai quite easily (thanks to MMI) and we finally reached Sinnadorai's Bunglow at 1.00PM.

We were welcomed by Mr. Rajiv as Ms. Sujatha was in BLR at that time. Mr.Rajiv took us through the check-in formalities and then introduced us to Murugan whom we found to be exactly the same as described in the many posts by our fellow BHPians. Wife and kids liked the Room very much and more than that they liked the scenary outside the room with the Bench overlooking the landscape.

Activities during our 3 nights stay:

We discussed with Murugan and planned the activities to make our 3 nights stay a memorable one and here goes the plan:

Day1: Evening walk in and around the estate - We were greeted by a herd of Bisons staring right at us
Day2: 1. Early morning Bird watch and 2. Night safari in and around Valparai
Day3: Drive down to Athirapalli falls via dense Sholayar forest and also visit Sholayar dam on the way.

Food at the Bunglow: Not to mention that the food was excellent and mouth watering which all of us enjoyed through out our stay.

Return Journey: Valparai-Pollachi-Palladam-Tiruppur-Perundurai-Salem-Bangalore

On the day of our checking-out we finally got a chance to meet Ms.Sujatha who had made up her mind to see us before we departed (she had just then returned back from BLR). She kept calling us and requested us to hang on when she finally reached the bunglow in her brand new Honda Amaze.

We then Started our journey back home from Valparai at 9.00 AM after having breakfast and bidding good bye to Ms. Sujatha and Murugan. We took the same Tiruppur route on our return only to face slow moving traffic all the way in and out of Thiruppur when I finally got to step up the pedal once out of Tiruppur.

We stopped for 45 Mins lunch break at Saravana Bhavan once again in Perundurai and reached BLR (Marathhalli) around 5:10PM.

Trip Summary:

Ride: All New Honda City
Total Distance: Approx 2000 KMS (including night safari, drive to Athirapalli falls, Bird watching)
Avg Mileage: 15.8KMS (intermittent A/C)

All of us loved the place and stay so much that we are planning to return back once again sometime in Dec/Jan.

Some snaps that were clicked during our stay here and also during our planned activities:

@Shubz: Good catch!! It should be 1200KMS instead of 2000KMS. Is there a way that I can edit the post to correct it?

Photos were shot using Canon EF 75-300 (with and without filter) on an EOS Rebel.

Mods should be able to correct that. Could you please give me a break up for the 1200 kms? That would help me in planning a trip for myself.

Thanks

Looks great. This'll definitely go in to my "To Do" list.
Between Munnar, Wayanad, and Valparai, which place would you recommend? I and my wife would be probably joined by another newly married couple.
