Sangla valley '06 !!! - Team-BHP

Hey, After finishing with the National Meet in Goa I decided to go to the other extreme destination with my wife ..Sangla Valley deep in the mountains of Himachal. Though in the end my chacha's and my aunt also decided to join in .....

I'm not putting up a detailed write up of the trip but instead gonna put up pics which shud tell a lot about the place ... Hope u guys enjoy them !!!

Route to Destination -- Kotgarh ( home ) - Rampur - Wangtoo - Karcham - Sangla ( final stop )

Transport used --

Accomodation in Sangla --

. Its situated on the left bank of the

Baspa river .

Camera -- A regular canon digicam though I wish I had a better camera .

Overall rating of the trip -- 8/10 as Sangla has lost its virginity with mass usage of concrete, plastic and vehicles !! But the natural beauty still exists !!!

Here go the pics guys ...

This temple is a point where all vehicles stop no matter which direction they going as this is to pray for a safe journey ( if you going towards Kinnaur ) or to pray for the safe journey ( if you headed back ) . The road after this is treacherous with sheer cliffs below you .. small mistake and u are HISTORY !! History has it that while making this road , loads of people lost their lives ..and nobody even remembers teh poor laborers .. Anyways, move on ..

No OVER LOADING can happen .. lol !!! Natural detterent to this practise ..

Imagine jumping off the road ...

Enroute to sangla .. Wangtoo !! The last time I went to Sangla we had to stop at the check post here and our documents were checked ... u needed a permit to enter Kinnaur though its not required anymore !!

Road blockages .. bad roads .. horrible roads .. be prepared for all types of surfaces in this territory !!!

Reached Sangla after dark ... Walked for 20 mins to get to the Rest House .. it looked like a HAUNTED HOUSE !!

Cooked dinner ..had a few whisky's and then crashed .. 2 am !!

Woke up fresh early next morning ... Stepped out into the garden and --

and yes one single mistake will take the unfortunate to the almighty, no chances of survival!
except for a car having wings!

how was your fusion over such bad roads and yes, did you drove in nights too?

Hey, The fusion is very gud on bad roads and doesnt tire even over long distances ... and plenty of power to slide around a bit as well !!! As for night driving ... the last 40 kms was done in the dark as we got late leaving home but we prefer driving in the nights though u miss the scenery !!!

Lovely pics Khaadu! The roads & the scenery look beautiful and frieghtening at the same time.

Hey, It definitely was a good trip .. specially as it came straight after the Goa trip !!! Finally managed getting all the alcohol and cigarettes outta my system ... and u guys shud plan a trip up to Himachal sometime .. I promise u Ill take you guys to places that u'll luv .

Its exactly the way you put it .. scary not too much as we used to such roads but beautiful it definitely is . As for the rest of the pics -- they shud be up by Monday !!

Mr.Saazid Singha !!! U are such a lucky prick ... Apples ya no apples , all u get to do round the year is run off to all these exotic places .. And like he tells me the wonderful yet shocking pics above are just a trailor it seems .. Just cant wait till monday for the rest of the report to be put up .. U seem to enjoy ur life to the max ..

PS : Get it out of ur mind that i would let u redline my baleno in these rather trecherous roads or do it myself .. NO WAY

(can see a big time relief on nitrous' face)

Hey, Free time you figure out ..wealth is not required for this part of the country !!!

Cost of trip worked out as follows --

Petrol -- 300 kms ..avg of 11 thus roughly 30 ltrs = 1500-00
Stay -- 2 nights .. 2 rooms@40 Rs a room/night = 160-00
Food -- groceries , cold drinks , chips chicken = 1000-00
Alcohol ( Red Label = free ), Vodka+10 sodas = 600-00
Tip to chowkidar = 500-00

Total is a figure 3700 Rs ( approx ) .. 5 of us thus per head was Rs 750 !!! Though I didn't pay nothing as my chachas paid mostly !!! I must have spent just about 500 bucks .. so u see wealth is not required to have fun in this part of the world .
