Default Kashmir - Heaven, A Winter experience

It all started with BHUTAN.

Yes Bhutan, I know there is no connection between Bhutan and Kashmir, but there is one, both fall under the lap of might Himalayas. But still what is the connection of Bhutan and Kashmir in relation to our plan, NONE, not even mighty Himalayas.

Then it all moved to Kerala, what has Kerala got to do with Kashmir. I can still understand the connection of Kanyakumari with Kashmir, which is Lungi Dance, but Kerala?

Well there is one thing important in all this mess, I have a long list of ToDo places .

For now, lets not talk about Bhutan and Kerala, I will have other threads for the same. This thread is about White, Pure white gold.

This is a family trip, and only one person in the family decided the Agenda of such trips, my beti Nandini. I asked her, we have cancelled two plans for different reasons, what is she expecting now. And she uttered just one word, SNOW.

And where do you get the best snow with best views, while you can still drive your own car, and have wonderful friends waiting for you to arrive, Kashmir it is.

So in the gap of just six months we were doing Kashmir again, this is a bonus of a sort :P. We did a very long trip of Kashmir in June 2013.

Car all set, all the support tools are always in stock. Gather some food and warm cloths, make calls to few friends and drive. We will do the trip management from the car :P

Lets go and Re-Live it here

Beautiful ! One can experience such niceties only when one ventures out. And not many do that; relegating to the coziness of their rooms. The rewards are there for all of us to see.

Thanks, I will post more soon
Car did fantastic, no issue or tantrum. SX4 has done much worst than this. :P

We had few close calls during our drive over heavy snow, under heavy snowfall from Pahalgam to Anantnag, I missed snow chains

Have been there thrice, last time in 2010, but never in the winter season.
The only place in India (except for my wife's hometown) which I can keep visiting again and again.
The last photo seems to be the Lidder in Pahalgam. How the river has shrunk in the winters.

Beautiful pictures Rajiv.
Must appreciate your courage to venture out into such uncertainty.
In the third picture your car was covered with snow in front of the red building, how did you get it out from there.

RK,

All I see is white! Looks like it was quite an adventure and the teasers hint at the very-much-expected-by-now RK class photos and some really great driving.

Were you carrying snow chains?

What's your photo gear? Exceptional photos. How did SX4 do? Any issues faced in the snow?
