Default Bangalore to Madikeri, Coorg - A quick photologue

I've read the travelogue section on the forum for years, but didn't have the flair (or patience) to do one myself. Here's my first shot at doing a photologue.

Disclaimer: This trip was done solely for relaxation and a getaway from never-ending work, so no hectic sight-seeing for me & the better half. Our only outing(s) once we parked the car at our host's home were on foot around their estate (and ONE drive to Talacauvery). Long story short, I have no tourist-y pics to share. Without further ado (and boring text nobody wants to read), here are a handful of pictures I clicked.

View outside our window when we got there:

Dusk at the estate:

Sun setting on a beautiful landscape:

Dawn the next morning:

Another morning shot:

The estate was full of flowers & blossoms. Some shots (the riot of pink below is completely unintentional. Some of the best flowers/blossoms there just happened to be shades of this colour on the palette):

This one says "Sun in my eyes!":

And "on my back too!":

This one can't seem to decide whether it likes the sun or shade better:

Here's one in yellow:

Orange blossom:

Up close:

Baby pink rose:

One still in the bud:

And one of the tweens. Not a bud, not quite a flower yet:

The greens were never-ending. A sample:

Some Magenta ones too:

Some valley shots from the Talacauvery vantage point. Honestly, we went there just for the 40-odd kms of twisties (one-way) one gets to drive to get there. Yipee!!

The "home away from home":

And last but never the least, my 8-year old baby "Carrie" that takes me (now Us, the wife reminded me after reading the draft, lest I forget her) everywhere I (we) want to go (as long as there's something resembling a road, of course). We have a 'no off-roading and no needless city drives' pact with Carrie (We're not fond of mud/slush or maddening traffic, neither is she), and love spending our time together on the highways. Despite her young age, Carrie still drives like new, looks the part and gives terrific highway FE (this trip: 17.41 & 16.64 kmpl with 100% A/C on the highway onward & return, 12.76 kmpl within the city and around the twisties in Coorg), and loads of fun that can't be put down in numbers.

She sports "Got BHP?" on the driver door:

And the customary "Live to Drive" on her back-pocket (modified slightly to fit):

Enjoy!

The place is called Misty Meadows, situated close to the 9th mile marker before Madikeri, approaching from Kushalnagar. You need to drive about a km off the highway on an approach road to get to their place. Upside, the place is conveniently close to the highway, but still secluded and silent enough that the only noise you hear is the noise you make. Perfect place to unwind.

For details, google 'Misty Meadows Coorg' and it's the second search result, contains contact details and other info. The hosts Mr. & Mrs. Nanaiah are a lovely couple, very accommodating and hospitable, and the lady is a fabulous cook, both veg & non-veg food.

Call them up for rates and availability based on your requirement.

Hello Chetan,

Re. the above, I share your sentiments exactly ! We made the trip to Madikeri from Mumbai in '97 (Goa, Mangalore en route, via NH 17) and loved the town and its surroundings. We had put up at a place called Raj Darshan (I wonder if it's still there). We chose this hotel since it was the one place which welcomed pets with open arms and we (my wife & I) were accompanied by our regular travelling companion, our boxer, Darth. Coffee cultivation and bee culture (apiary) being popular there (and I being an indiscriminate foodie), we brought back samples of both.

Thank you for reviving happy memories!

Glad you liked it and relived some fond memories!

I have a thing for off-season touring, that sort of lets me have the place to myself without the swarming crowds. I went to Goa during the monsoons a couple of years ago with some friends. Got sea-facing resort rooms right on Calangute beach for a steal, and went biking around Goa in the rain. The landscape is amazingly beautiful during the rains, and we had the country roads to ourselves. Absolute bliss!

Nice pics.
Coorg is a nice place to visit anytime of the year & offers solitude. Great for nature photography too.
