The pictures are truly professional quality and shows your patience in clicking at right moment (birds in flight, bird picking up the twigs floating on the water...). The razor sharp focus of of birds, that too in flight...

Your fairly fast lens and early morning warm hues added charm to the pictures!

I am surprised and unhappy that the sanctuary doesn't open till 8:30 AM - it is a bit late, as many birds would disperse by then. Are there any local guides available at the Sanctuary to help locating the birds?

Are there any hotels and restaurants available close to the sanctuary or Bengaluru is the nearest option?
Thanks for the appreciation sir!

Most of the boat men have been working there for decades and over the years have gathered tremendous knowledge of bird behavior and their favorite hangouts. So they double up quite well as birding guides!

Also, the closest city is Mysore, which is just about 18-20kms away.

Looking at your pictures in which you captured the ornithic actions, I came to realize why photography is an art - it is because a photographer of your caliber can capture such precious instants of time which are so easy to overlook with naked eyes!
Thanks for your kind words of appreciation sir, really made my day!

That was a good way to spend a day with a dash to Ranganathittu and back!

The turn off to Ranganathittu is near Srirangapatna on the Bangalore-Mysore highway and the highway upto that point is like a food court with several options all the way! From Kamat, Adigas, Kadambam to McDonalds and what not .. and a couple of Food Courts, one on on each side of the highway, It's the Highway on your plate!
Thanks sir!

I looks like somehow, we missed this 'highway of your plate' area

As per the map in your opening post you have taken SH 17 the Bangalore-Mysore highway and that's the one I was referring to - has lots of restaurants all the way!

Excellent pics Vikash! I'm planning to visit this place soon. I have been hearing about it since a long time from my relatives but I've not been there even though I have stayed in Southern Karnataka since the last 18 years. Among those 18, I was in Mysuru for 6 years!
Since you said that the best time is Dec- Feb, I'm hoping that the soon will come soon. I'm not a photographer and that'll take away some of the fun though

Wow! Incredible pictures. Superb quality, as good as being there. Was in Bangalore for 6 years and never been to this place.

Lovely travelogue, and BRILLIANT photos!
Where did you go to get the photos of the Kingfishers and the Thick-Knee? Were they spotted on the regular boat ride or did you go to another part of the park?

Vikash49...an amazing short and crisp travelogue. What more do you want in life than an impromptu drive and beautiful birds to treat the eyes. I must say the pics have come out beautiful and the place seems very serene.
Thanks for treating us with those nice pictures!

Great shots! brilliant colors. I am curious about one thing though. Did you have to get off the boat when you said area to sit around the lake?? Is not the place crocodile infested? Sorry if I am missing some detail.

I was there as a kid a good decade and a half ago. Never mustered enough courage to take the boat ride on return trips after I saw crocs in touching distance.

@vikash, Stunning images. Even under low light conditions, you did a true professional job!!
Catching those Pelicans in flight, especially in those angles need real professional skills. Just curious, no crocs? Or you don't like them?

I've been there on a bright sunny day, and could hardly capture well focussed in-flight birds. I'm still learning to snap birds in-flight!

Its a great place for a day outing.
