It was a late start from Bangalore. Hence, decided to follow the best route suggested by google maps. Having not made many long drives I thought it would be better to use the 4 lane road till Hassan. To my surprise the single lane route to Belur was also a very pleasant drive. At hiremagaluru, there is a bypass road to KM road. On reaching the hotel I realized that the other route suggested by Maps will get me to gateway hotel from the other side directly. Could have probably used this route on the way back to Bangalore

Nice travelogue Suhas. The Veeranarayana temple looks almost similar to Kotipura Kaitabeshwara temple near Ranebennur. The architecture looks exactly same. You can try visiting this temple on some weekend. It's always deserted and the road up to this temple is extremely good. I accidentally came across this temple on one of my drives to Sirsi after which I regularly stop at this place en route to Uttara Kannada.

Thanks for the same. Do share pics in case you have the same.
I guess it can be combined along with black buck sanctuary.

You can find the pics of the temple at this link (post #26) - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...-malnad-2.html (Monsoon in Malnad)

Along with black buck sanctuary, you can also cover places like Byadagi which is very near to Ranebennur. I heard there are some other good places around that area but never got a chance to explore.

Superb pictures and a very practical write up. Thanks for sharing. We had visited this place during November 2010. The Veeranarayana temple was not as great as it is in your picture. We had stayed at Arabidacool homestay. Its very similar to the homestay you had mentioned. Those days the cost was 3000 per room/night. Food was extra and there was a butler service (meaning cook and butler were around to cook whatever you wanted).

Where is your next trip to?
