Excellent report, DRC. I have never visited Goa (have passed through in train a few times though), and want my first visit to be by road. Thanks to your travelogue, now I know what route to take!

Driving from Chennai, I guess I will have to break my journey into two days.

Default Anyone taken Blr-Karwar route recently

First of all I must admit a very well written travelogue DRC. Good stuff.

I was planning to drive from Blr to Karwar sometime around 26 Jan 2008. Has anyone traveled this route recently any update on the condition of the roads.

Many thanks for a very informative and useful write up. I am planning to do this trip in Jan 09 & will follow the route you took (i.e. Bangalore > Shimoga >Jog > Honnavar >Karwar > Goa)

just to mention, I took different routes for my forward and return trip and could cover few more places.
