Thank you !! Staying at Mukteshwar did help us. We were in Lucknow within 9 hours. And place is definitely amazing.

Thanks for sharing the lovely travelogue.

Edit: Rated well deserved 5 Stars! |
Thanks a lot Saket !! We were in Kumaon from 14th to 17th Feb. Binsar is at an altitude of approx 8000 ft. whereas Munsiyari & Mukteshwar, both are at approx altitude of 7200 ft. The views from Munsiyari are better since the distance from the snow peaks is the least. It is the closest you can get to the mountains on this side by a car. The highest altitude we hit was on the way to Munsiyari, which was 2680m (8800 ft) as shown by the car's GPS.

How was the benefit of AWD on ice roads?
Please provide the link of your Pithoragarh travelogue. |
As explanied by SS-Traveller, it has been in some places. But somehow, NH2 is still stuck to mind since it has many memories attached to it. We did not face any ice on the roads. AWD wasn't used anywhere except once in Binsar Sanctuary since the road was dug up & under construction.
For info on how AWD performs on snow or ice, do go through this

This travelogue will definitely help me a lot in planning my trip. Many thanks.
Just a query - I am planning to do this trip on my motorcycle, so how can I explore the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary? Do they have Jeep/Elephant safaris as well? Most likely a motorcycle will not be permitted inside a sanctuary hence the query. Any pointers would be really helpful. |
Thanks a lot for your kind words //M. I didn't enquire about the Jeep Safaris since we had our own vehicles. Where are you planning to stay ? KMVN Tourist House, Binsar, is inside the sanctuary. You call call them up & ask whether the bikes are allowed or not. If they are allowed till KMVN, then that means you can take your bike up. If possible, take a Night Halt between Binsar & Munsiyari. Its a pretty long drive/ride for hills. let me know if you need any more details.
All the Best for your trip !!

Thanks a lot TheStranger. One of the reasons I write travelogues is too read them again & relive the trip.

Thank you SID2997. Unfortunately, Mr. Vikram Bisht wasn't there when we stayed. His parents were equally welcoming.
