Trip Logs Of Uttranchal Trip - Team-BHP

Hai BHPians,

Just finished a 3415 Kms of trip A'bad - Uttranchal - A'bad of good and bad roads. A'Bad - Delhi-Haridwar was good & from there, Rishikesh, Guptkashi -Ukimath - Joshimath - Badari - Karnaprayag - Kasauni - Almora - Nainital was all mountain roads and twisties. Many places the roads were washed off with landslides with road work going on. Had to face rain, snowfall and very low temperatures. Karnaprayag to Tarali was tight, steering-wrenching twisties; one need to watch out for Jeep drivers and busdrivers doing Shumi stunts on blind turns. You need to be fully alert too.... or off you go half / one Km down into the ravine or river.

I would have used over drive for about 50 kms on the 1000 odd kms of mountain roads; the tacho mostly above 3 K, the milage was 13.3 km/ ltr

The fusion did outstanding work on all kinds of roads. The steering and breaking was predictable and presice; no rattle, no scrapping bottom or problems with even the steepest climbs. Never did it miss a beat (except one day when the battery got drained off accidentally), started on first click at all the places and even at joshimath with -2 degrees on 23rd October morning.

Jp group has riddled with mountain with offices inside!!! Reportedly, they have dammed up the water on the other side and are generating power !!!!

Road nearing Karnaprayag

At Kasauni

Meeting with Kumar, of yahoo group Indian Highways, the living encyclopedea of Indian roads, off Nainital. He was going up to Badari and from there trying uncharted roads to Shimla thro. some mountain passes. He trusts the Scorpio blindly and he did find one !!!!!!!

Have selected a few; need time to optimize more....

Yes, we seem to have met the same guy/ gal !!!

Will chek out the yahoo site and see if I can upload it someplace else. Its a Excell webpage with lots of details.

As for the query, how many people, we were a crazy 4; I did all the driving on the mountain sections, from Haridwar to Badari to Nainital to Delhi; my wife helped out on the expressways and straight roads. My 1 son manned the camera and another the trip logs and in house music and food (the eating part)
