Come on my love. I am quite sure you wanted to say: you bought a truckload of stones for US, no? Because if I am not mistaken you, too, liked it very much and the fact that you also saved quite a bit of money that way was also very appealing.

Hey, wait a minute! You cannot compare those two things.

Bombay? You want to send it to Bombay from here?
For the happiness of a woman. My lady will accept nothing but this stuff.

The foreigner that came with you? How is she?

Oooops, now that I read the translation I feel a little stupid for being so quick on the trigger. I am just super excited about my marble and cannot wait to see it.

@Sam:
I am extremely late to reply, but the unpleasant Taj incident made write this reply.

What you have done is less. If I were you, I would have taken the best care that they suffer more. Stealing something or being arrogant is one thing and doing this much horribly wrong is something else.

I was really enjoying the thread till the page about this incident came up. There are very few threads that I read continuously. The other was " Protest against Tata Motors ". All my joy in reading is now lost.

It just indicates that the now official " 7th wonder of modern world " gives the best indication of our country's present culture.

I hope that you enjoyed other locations apart from Taj and specially photographing the Cows on roads.

6 days later - the marble is in its new home, safe and sound
A labour of love is complete. Many thanks to everyone involved, especially iraghava.

And as no story is complete without pictures...

The marble lot that I loved.

The colour tone is incorrect as this picture was taken with my Blackberry rubbish camera. It is noteworthy that the marble is milk white in base, unlike the regular greyish white base you see on regular marble.
To get as close as possible to the character post polish, they wet it completely.

The Interior designer asked for only 20 pieces, given the huge size of the slabs. When Ishan visited the quarry, the 20 pieces were kept aside, ready to go. Unfortunately the truck was super late.

This picture were taken from Ishan's camera. Notice the character and colour is very different from the first photo, as this is now dry and unpolished. After it is laid, it will be polished 7 times to get the texture, colour and character of the veins.
We both thought it was very special and unusual, the green and slight red veins and the milky white base with little or no mica sparkle.

Since a 407 was not available, a larger (607?) truck was used - unfortunately this meant more space for the marble to bounce around. As I have mentioned, I had to pay for cheaper stones and wood and bamboo to be used for the packing. It was done on blind trust and faith. I was not around to check the packing and Ishan, unfortunately had to leave (after waiting for hours) for a personal engagement.

6 days later, the truck has reached this morning, safe and sound. The packing was magnificent and I am happy to inform you that not even one piece is broken or cracked.

We are very happy

We now have a memory that will be forever attached to a small portion of the home. Thanks for enjoying this little side-story.
