Those are really amazing pics dude!! I did try to go to mulshi once from the amby valley road by taking the last diversion that comes approx 7kms before amby valley. But couldent get too far coz the road was real bad and dint want to harm my OHC(it was over loaded). Has anybody managed to get there from the same route??

Super pics these! Totally agree that trips like these are hard to do in Mumbai! There are a few like Tungareshwar near Vasai and few on the Mumbai Nasik, Wada-Manor stretch! But the area you are mentioning stands out in topography, scenery & the breathtaking views!

Did an unplanned zoomcar drive to Mulshi dam from Pune and google maps put us through the baddest of roads. And to top it, we couldn't touch the waters anywhere. The roads ended up in some resorts and so had a distant view of the lake with no way to enter the water than a steep stair of steps which we were not that keen in taking.

So decided to take the Amby Valley route back and ended up on top of a dam whose far gates were closed for traffic. Returned a few kms and took a diversion through a eerily feeling place. This stretch was so creepy with such broken roads and not a soul in sight for kms and the mobile data not working. Just relied on the GPS to track on an offline map. Though, the zoomcar experience was good.

A few snaps of the lake and enroute.

On 29 th Dec, I took the Tamhini route to reach to Murud from Pune. It was absolutely pleasant road to drive early in the morning. We did not stop at Mulshi lake but drove along side of the lake towards Tamhini Ghat.

Here are few pictures en-route -

The road passing through hills, valleys and seeing Sahyadri make one think - monsoon must be like heaven here.

Could you please update on the road conditions from Murud to Tamhini? I had travelled that road some time back, and from what I remember it was not smooth. Not potholes, but patches. Lots and lots of patches which caused vibrations and forced me to ease up. Definitely not an enjoyable drive.

Default A Drive to Mulshi Lake

Yes that is right. Not a smooth tarmac. Specifically if you take route to Roha via Kelghar, its very patchy and broken. Low GC sedans would have trouble. In Tamhini, the roads are not very good but they aren't bad too. There aren't any large potholes but some sections are bad with loose gravel. Some section is being repaired. So expect dust as well. But the road is definitely enjoyable due to terrain it goes through. You sure cannot speed beyond 50 kmph or so but with that kind of scenery, who would?

You should easily budget 4 hrs and more if leaving from Paud to Murud. More time of course if you stop often to take pictures if hills, valleys and lake!
